I was hanging out with a friend today before class at university. She wanted to smoke and asked me if I wanted to smoke with her before I head my way. I said sure, why not.

Huffed and puffed and that wasn't so bad since I had smoked a few times before. But I guess the last time I smoked I must've done just one puff of smoke and that was that, but this time I went through the whole cigarette. It wasn't bad as I thought... my nerves calmed down after I had went through a stressful day at work.

But right now I feel like crap. I was running to my car because I forgot my bookbag and I literally collapsed like a sack of potatoes the moment I got to my car. Not to mention my breath smells like crap as well, heh. I just wonder how the lot of you who do smoke can smoke stick after stick and not feel as winded as I did. Maybe I just did'nt smoke correctly? :lol

Do yourself a favor and never pick up a cigarette again. It really does get easier as you do it more. The occasional smoke with friends or when you drink is the gateway to addiction.

You might just be sensitive to brand. If I smoke [Marlboro] Reds or Parliaments I feel like absolute ass for the rest of the day.

i remember when i was 12 or so and stole my dad's cigarettes and thought the same thing. but as you learn to actually *inhale* the smoke, you feel the effects better and it's a pleasant experience. (not that i condone smoking. don't ever start)

i remember i thought beer was the most disgusting thing ever. and now i'm probably an alcoholic

Was the chick hot at least?

And yeah, I know it's cool to smoke cigs or fuck around with your cellphone instead of standing there arms crossed, but fuck it, it's not worth it!

That's what I've been trying to tell the wife, but she doesn't seem to buy into my sage smoking cessation advice.

Maybe she just gets more huffs out of the cigarette

I tried smoking a cig a few times when I was a little younger. The fucking smoke kept getting in my fucking eyes and I just decided it wasn't worth the torture. Plus it just seemed so pointless.

I used to smoke when I drank just to get a little drunker, then I'd wake up in the morning and it would taste like someone shit in my mouth.

I've stopped.

EDIT:

The smoke in the eyes thing also pushed me away from it.

Like bull riding, threesomes, and flying a rocket into space, smoking is not for everyone. It takes a certain kind.

Cowboy Killers are still hard as hell to smoke. I can sometimes smoke Camels. But the only smokes I could smoke everyday (if I was a smoker) would be Marshall McGearty's but they're $10 a pack and only available in Wicker Park.

as a former smoker trust me...do not start

i smoked heavily in my teen years for about 5 years, picked it up from my older cousins who are my best friends so i started earlier then most...as with other things

was smoking atleast a pack day as a junior in high school when i found out my mom had cervical cancer, quit cold turkey that day...its been 9 years

will admit i do enjoy a nice cigar from time to time but thats something i can use in moderation

Millions of lung cancer victims agree with you.

Nicotine will do that to you...

its a filthy habit I can't bring myself to quit and I hate it

but yeah, when I was 14 thinking I was cool I would chain smoke with friends until I puked >.<

So diabetes is better than lung cancer?
Seriously though, just turn that shit down next time.

You can't "catch" diabetes. WTF?

Seriously, don't waste your time, money, and body on cigarrettes.

Smelly, not much of buzz, expensive, very healthy, and very addictive.

I really don't see the point.

(And yes, I've tried them.)

Except that there is some enjoyment to be had from those other things. Not smoking.

True but it is also AWESOME.

Yeah, if you start smoking cigs in this day and age, you're pretty dumb.

The problem is most 'facts' about Tobacco are actually incorrect, and I say that as someone who hates smoking and wants to quit

I just cant stand $10-$12 a pack anymore...

Good Lord that is some serious vice tax action right there.

Alberta... its terrible here

As I said I am quitting, I could do with the extra 250-300 a month from not smoking :D

When I am smoking I usually top out at a pack, pack and a half a month. So that's like $6-$10 USD (a month).

But unlike everyone else it seems I've never really gotten "addicted" to the stuff.

Alcohol on the other hand...

I've been smoking for 10 years give or take but I'm trying to quit. Quit a week some time ago but started again. I mainly want to quite to save some money. Today I started to quit again, but 6 hours have passed and Im already having trouble. Anyone out there, help me stay off the smoke!

Op dont you ever fuckin pick up another cig in your life. Listen to the wise advice in this thread. I am trying to stop smoking right now. I stopped smoking weed 3 months ago I figured I might as well try kick this habbit as well.

It's going to be a battle every day until the day I die. That's why people always know how long its been since the last time they had a cig. Quiting cigs could be the hardest thing you do in your life. The easiest way is to never pick up the goddamn things to begin with.

Damn. You should have replaced the cigarette smoke with marijuana to curb your nicotine addiction. THEN you should have quit marijuana since its not addictive at all.

Think about it. When you crave that sweet tug of a cigarette, just light up a spliff and fill your lungs with mood-changing GOODNESS! There's still time!

Anyway, I've talked to numerous people who have smoked cigarettes exclusively, then quit the cigs and took up pot. They said that marijuana is easier on the lungs and body, and much 'healthier' for you than cigarettes, especially if you use glass. It's the tar that makes marijuana so hard on the lungs. I smoke a lot of pot, but I'm much much much more active than any cigarette smoker I know, I can run a mile in 7 and half minutes, and I have a very dedicated workout routine. If I had to choose between cigs and pot, I'd take the pot, even if it was illegal.

Yeah. I might be smoking while drinking, if Illinois didn't ban it. Then again, the two months I did smoke while drinking has given me a slight phlegmy cough once in a while, so I'm glad I stopped when I did.

I would bang the girl in question. Females that smoke are 4 times as likely to suck dick, 6 times as likely to fuck, and 10 times as likely to offer up anal!
