Anyone have any idea what this is ?

I've just seen it posted on GR, with the claim that it was a pop-up from www.touch-ds.jp

Could be bullshit, but looks like a hint towards some kind of a camera for DS if true ?

I dunno. Just wanted to know if any of the GAF insiders have any info.

The evolution of the Game Boy Camera?

Wasn't there a peripheal called the Game Eye coming out?

Curiouser and curiouser..

The DS GBA slot can be used for accessories. Perhaps this is for a camera add-on similar to the Game Eye. That would explain the mysterious disappearance of the product at the last E3.

All quite possible. It's hardly likely that they would announce anything like this, until e3. Or in fact not annouce it. I wonder if it is a camera would it allow you to send pictures from within PictoChat ?

Or it could be a game of SNAP! :lol

But seriously a camera but be K-kool, imagine the possibilities - photo sharing wirelessly :D or you could mess about with them ala Mario 64's face:P

That would kick ass - SNAPATON !!!!

Hmmm, maybe Stage Debut is going to the DS with a DS Camera?

Nintendogs started off on the GC and Band Brothers started off on the GBA, both were moved to the DS, I think this could happen again with Stage Debut.

It could be a lot like Mario Paint (being able to draw directly on the screen), and the camera would allow you to take your DS to school and take picture's of friends and then insert them into the game as characters. Or you could trade characters/items via WiFi.

Not like the DS couldn't handle those graphics anyway.

Stage Debut really could be a big hit on the DS because you can carry the DS anywhere and then being to insert your friends as characters would be hillarious.

Weren't other Japanese game designers supposed be unlockable in Stage Debut (like Hideo Kojima)?

I hope if it does get transferd to the DS, they keep that feature.

What was the premise of Stage Debut?

It really doesn't have one. I mean I can imagine some little game scenarios and some Mario Paint esque functionality, but beyond that it seems like non-game.

Which kinda makes it perfect for the DS, joining Nintendogs, Animal Crossing DS, and Electroplankton.

Well, one version had an e-Reader card for Bill Gates, complete with devil wings. Oh wait, I'm not supposed to talk about that! lolololol

Why waste the tech on NDS? I'd rather see it used on REV. You can make your own characters for games that support it. Xenon is doing something similiar, it'd be a shame Nintendo had the idea before them and wasted it on NDS.

It'd be better on the DS because the touchscreen allows for obvious advantages when drawing/creating characters.

The other huge advantage is the DS is a portable system. So I can slap the DS in my coat pocket, take it out, and when I'm with friends, take a snapshot via the DS Camera and then put them into the game as characters and then show it to them. Then you could manipulate the characters to dance or fight or whatever.

That would be absolutely a huge part of the game.

DS would be the way to go with this game for sure.

Sounds like a tech demo for a rev utility. :)

Its a similar thing with Pokemon and Tetris.

Sure both have been some what popular on consoles, but really the appeal of those concepts is enhanced by portability.

With Pokemon, the core thing is a kid can take his game to school and trade characters at lunchtime with his friends. That's a huge part of the appeal, otherwise its just another RPG.

Not all games are better on consoles. Besides I do think the Revolution will almost definitely have a camera built-in as well. Plus the touchscreen is the other aspect of the DS hardware which would be perfect for this and difficult to replace on a home console.

I mean imagine this ... Stage Debut DS could basically act as a "virtual year book" for you, you could take all your classmates, and put them into the game as virtual 3D characters to store and keep for years. You could maybe take pictures of your classroom walls and integrate them as texture maps for a virtual classroom. You could have your friends then record voice samples to give their virtual character their own trademark sayings. It'd be hillarious.

The DS was born for a game/software app like this.

Yeah. Once you use this idea you can never use it again ever.

This would ROCK :D I'm a bit dissapointed with the DS launch so far. I love the system, and Mario, Wario and Polarium are great but that doesnt seem enough for the launch of a new console. Saying that, I can see that the DS has sooo much potential for apps and other non-game pacakges, if this turns out be a camera its getting pur-chased.

Man .... I just have a really strong feeling Stage Debut on the DS with a camera would be huuuuuge.

If I had something like that, I'd definitely carry my DS around everywhere, just to put friends into the game and to see their reactions to their virtual character's.

Nintendo better get on it before Sony does something similar.

i agree totally. it's something that would appeal to every stripe of person, every age... tons of people would pick up a DS just for that.

Yeah y'know when Nintendo says they want to make games that appeal to everyone, usually I would say "impossible", but this really seems like something that could appeal to just about anyone.

This is a perfect opportunity for some kind persons to post the photoshopped pic of Mr Bling himself - Hiroshi Yamauchi. Make me laugh GAF !

i would like to see a wireless karaoke game where you can put in your picture and you have 4 players and each enters a pop idol style championship, and the others can act as judges,

imagine that- singing to your DS, theres also programs in korea on theyre kareoke machines that can rate the pith of your viove and the high and lows and gives you a score on how well it matched the original singer of the track,

i got between 50 -96% of most shaggy tunes lol

Stranger and stranger ......
