SNES games--replacing batteries?

Just copped this off Ebay, completing my mad quest to relive my past (and re-acquire my favorite game of all time in the process):

Obviously, this is more than a decade old now and more than likely the internal batteries will either be dead or very close to it (although I don't really know how long they last in general). Question being, does someone like Radioshack carry the bit I'll need to get the case of the cartridge open? I remember reading somewhere that it's a 3.8mm bit or something.

It's crazy how long those batteries last. I know they say they die in 10 years, but I have yet to have a battery pak powered cartridge die on me.

Thanks for the link, radio. That'll leave me much less clueless when I go to my local hardware store.

Lake: Yeah, I'm hoping they won't be dead as well. The only "watch" batteries I had die on me were for my Saturn's internal memory. Also, I just printed out a replacement faq from Gamefaqs, which gives a solder and non-solder method (electric tape). And remember,

Hey, he got up after getting hit by Ryu's Shin-Shoryuken (official Capcom storyline) so he's gotta be doing something right.

Just get the gamebits on eBay. Their cheap and it's way too hard to find in your local hardware. I bought some Nintendo bits to quickly mod my N64.

Test it out first to see if it doesn't need replacing..I have some 18/19 year old games that the battery still works on.

You can be a cheapass and use a powerdrill instead of a gamebit, though. :)

Also, make a SM topic when you play!

My Sonic 3 cart battery died.

I was fucking pissed, I had saves of every character in Hyper form.

I just had my first cart die this week. It was one of my original NES Zelda cartridges.
