So Blizz just gated the 1st Diablo 4 xpac behind the 2nd one...

I mean G-fucking-G bunch of greedy cunts:

1st expansion, no longer available:

2nd expansion:

Yes, I know the second expansion has the same price as the 1st one when it launched (40€) but the first one was regularly going on sale to as low as 9.99€ last time it got discounted. Probably really nice for people that wanted to jump back in before Lord of Hatred but were unsure. Well - tough fucking luck, give us your money because pappy Nadella needs profitability margins.

Hey, Blizz:

go fuck yourself middle finger GIF

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Diablo 4 is still the most recent game I regret buying. I played it till the start of season 1 and I was over it. Never got the the first DLC, nor will I get (can't, lol) it. Fuck this game.

I haven't touched a Blizzard or Activision product outside of gamepass.

Everything is online anyways so you don't really own anything so subscription seems apt lol.

Never ever "purchase" any Blizzard/Activision game, always go gamepass as these are not worth owning.

My Diablo 4 experience because I had a subpar internet connection was just repeatedly restarting dungeons because my connection used to drop. So I used a free VPN ( Cloudflare WRAP ) and guess what? Blizzard bans me (BNet) for account sharing??? Huh.

Good riddance, no regrets as I never really paid for the game, just the subscription price ( gamepass. )

I genuinely despise this company because they make great games I want to own and play, offline and without all the shit DRMs but no, not allowed. The company repeatedly disrespects players and keeps introducing unnecessary shit.

I have had enough. Fuck this company, so many games to play with are user friendly.

Haven't played D4 yet, but what is the problem here?

I guess it makes sense if you're supposed to play through the first expansion before this one. But maybe that isn't the case?

By a degree that its actually insane. Diablo showcased Paladin and all the features were done in 3 minute trailer.
PoE2 Druid just kept on going and going. It is insane to think one patch of that game had more content than entire video games.
I played through the first 3 acts and dumped like 80 hrs into the game in the first week. I need to go back and play it again, I know it's had a bunch of good updates and Druid looks super fun.

I regret buying Diablo 4 so much.. I only beat it because I bought it at full price and felt so much buyers remorse that I had to at least try to get something out of it.

I guess they just want everyone to jump in at the same point & have all content if they buy the latest expansion?

I never purchased the first expansion, but I find this more enticing to jump back in and grab both expansions at launch, as I won't have to buy either separately, and if I decide to wait for a sale, I'll get both expansions for a lower price for both. :)

The new dlc has the previous dlc bundled, those who bought the old one don't get any discount purchasing the new one. You can't even buy the old dlc anymore as it's delisted. Blizzard also ran a heavy sale for the old dlc to make players buy it and now delisted it and included it for free in the new one lol, rekt.

Okay, that is pretty fucking bad. Worth remembering that World of Warcraft requires a monthly sub, has paid expansions and an ingame store. So I can't say that I'm surprised about them doing their best to screw customers.

On topic, q quick fuck you to Sony for not discounting bundles when you own parts of it. The only thing they've done is to (sometimes) block you from buying bundles with content you already own. Even though the blocked bundle could be cheaper than buying the content you're missing seperately.

That's my guess as well. It's quite the "brutal" way of doing it, though. At least from a customer perspective.

I don't think they are "screwing" customers here per se; yes there's no discount, but the previous expansion was the same price, they just made it "free" and included it with the new expansion.
I guess people are feeling slighted because it feels like they are rewarding new customers, but in reality if you bought the previous expansion you probably also played through several seasons of content new customers don't have access to.

Welp, I bought Vessel of Hatred when it was like 9 bucks. I'm not investing a lot of time into games anymore, but I no-lifed Vessel of Hatred for three days a week ago and I'm basically done with Season 11, except for min-maxing and endless farming. Kinda crazy, thinking back on how much time I spent on D2.

The last game I played from Blizzard was Diablo 2 remake. It was awesome.
But I'll probably never play another of their games. They have become one of the worst companies in the industry.

It's so hard watching what was previously an industry titan continue to further and further alienate itself from its community.

D4 was really such a let down, as many of their recent projects have been. Played at launch, being a long time Diablo fan, beat the game, whose story was extremely obviously just one part of a much greater whole, realized the end game was shit, and that the game wouldn't be "complete" for years and just quit for good.

If they ever release a battle chest with all of the expansions for like $30 AND introduce an offline mode, I might jump back in just to tick the box of having completed the story.

At this point I just don't care though, and part of me is really saddened by that. Making this game effectively an open world MMO was such a colossal misstep it cannot be understated.

So you are mad they are basically giving the 1sr expansion free to people who never bought it?
ehm what's the problem here ? They give away the first expansion for free if you buy the second one ? Jezuz folk this days
That's what I'm gathering. If anything, this told me that if I'm ever curious about the expansions just wait, lol.

It's so weird how D4 has been handled. I love the look and vibe of it all, but D3 played so much better. I will always wonder if the next expansion will improve the game as a whole much like Reaper of Souls did with D3 when it dropped. But at this point, I don't know if that will ever happen to D4. At least, I'm not holding my breath. But if it does happen some day, neat.

D4 had great art direction, but D3 was exponentially more fun

I have to agree with this, D3 felt more 'arcade' fun to play, if that make sense in context.

I haven't played D4 since launch so no idea if all the game play changes have improved it since then. Will play it again when there's a lul in new releases and my backlog is less severe.

Is the first dlc worth it?
Campaign is a giant nothing burger until the last 10 minute as far as what happens. It's offensively a waste of your time.

New class is a lot of fun.

The area you go to is great and so are new enemies.

The additional end game stuff added as part of this was overall good stuff.

Worth it on sale or in this case bundled with an entirely new expansion so you can play a Paladin now? Yes seems legit.

Me too, including FFXVI

I'm not sure I'll go for the next DLC, just learned there's a new one coming. I was so disappointed by the first one.

This is good for new players though isn't it? If I buy Diablo 4 now, I only need to pay for one expansion instead of two to have access to the full experience.

I'm not sure that I follow the problem

This shitshow of a company has not deserved the name "Blizzard" for well over a decade now. Even then, it's not like that name is pristine, either. On general principle, I refer to them as "Activision", and nothing further than that.

PoE2 better :messenger_sunglasses:
Yup. Having redownloaded and played PoE2 again over the weekend to try out the Druid class, I had a lot of fun. Even without PoE2, there's a new Grim Dawn expansion out next year. I've got no reason to even look in Diablo IV's direction.

This basically kind of screws over the folks who already bought first expansion since they don't get a discount for the double pack.

Is PoE2 fun for newbies to the series? Couldn't get into PoE1 but I did enjoy D2, D3, Grim Dawn (for quite a bit till it got somewhat boring) and so on.

The cruel part is they fucking know exactly what they are doing. The paladin is one of the most requested classes because the absolute fucking dipshits at Blizzard either refused or were unable to deliver that class at launch.
