I just got around to watching the two-part pilot of CBS' slow out of the gates (ratings-wise) sci-fi thriller Threshold...and I must say I enjoyed it.
It has an eclectic and really quite fantastic cast. Carla Gugino is a great lead, Peter Dinklage and Brent Spiner are great, and overall the show just seems to have a real sense of what it is. Is it super-fantastic television? The answer is no. That said, I want to see where this goes.
I'll compare it to Prison Break, in a way, although I think it is better overall. In both shows, I want to know what happens, but I'm not going to be entirely caught up in it just yet.
The success of Lost may have made the various networks pick up these sci-fi shows, but it should be very interesting to see which ones survive. Invasion more or less will get themselves a free pass due to it's lead-in, but Threshold is in a bit of trouble with it's low ratings and can only hope for a big boost from Jennifer Love Hewitt's breasts this Friday to cement its place.
So did anyone else enjoy it? Or watch it? The ratings say no, but you never know.
