So has anybody voted yet?

Military leans GOP, right?

I wonder if they will tip the scales slightly over the Trump victory? A squeaker?

Have the polls accounted for that?

I mean it still depends on what state you claim residence in. I voted Hillary, but since I claim residence in Idaho, even though I'm in Virginia, my vote doesn't necessarily matter. Idaho is going to be red no matter how I vote. There's plenty of people from states like Ohio or Florida or even here in Virginia though that are swing states that may or may not be swayed by military voters I suppose.

I wish I could vote early but in my state it's only allowed for those who can't on election day.

Same here. Alabama has no early voting, and absentee ballots have limitations that I don't qualify for. Yay for making voting harder, I'll probably have to drive all the way across the county during my lunch break to vote, meaning probably a 1 hour+ round trip on top of the time spent waiting while I'm there.

I might have jury duty that week though. And if so, I'd assume they would be very accommodating.

I vote by mail (Colorado); ballots get mailed out next week.

It's so convenient, it would be nice if more states did it (I think just Colorado/Washington/Oregon currently?)

As others have pointed out, many states currently do it as long as you sign up for it. I've been voting by mail in Arizona for years now. I believe ballots come this week. I know physical early voting begins on the 12th here.

Is early voting via mail or can you go in person to the local elections offices and vote.

I have to check up on Florida's rules on early voting .

Sent in my absentee ballot last week. I've never been so happy to vote and do my part to stop that bigoted piece of garbage from becoming president.

Voted today for the first time, did an all Democrat ticket. I educated myself a bit on the Senate and Representative races, just voted all Democrat for the judges. No initiatives on the bill

It was actually a pretty pleasant experience! Forms were easy to fill out and I got my ballot quickly. When I went to turn it in, a frequent substitute from my high school was manning that booth. Had a fun/quick chat and she gave me two voting stickers. Felt good to vote.

Yep! Early voting is divine.
More people need to tame advantage of early voting because it basically eliminates the stress for the working populace who have limited time to run off to the polls. Plus lazy voters don't have an excuse anymore.

First day for early voting here is the 19th, and I will be at the polls as soon as I am humanly able. I'll probably take a day off work for it.

If early voting for GE is as easy as it was for the primaries I might just do that.

But I have Election Day off so I can go at any time was thinking about checking it out. I've never been to an actual Election Day for primaries or the general since I was a little kid and my mom dragged me along after work once. I voted absentee in 2012 and didn't feel anything

As soon as Texas opens it's polls for early voting on 10/24 I'll be getting it over with. Fuck election day lines in a crowded city

I won't be able to vote early in SC, I guess. Last election was the first election where I voted and I was overseas and was able to do an absentee ballot way ahead of time. I already checked a few weeks ago to make sure I was registered prior to the deadline but just looked now into early voting only to find out that SC is the exact kind of shitshow you would expect of a red state in regards to voting: No early voting, no absentee ballots without a valid excuse, and no same-day registration. I don't have any kind of legitimate reason to vote now, certainly nothing that meets their requirements for proving I need to vote absentee, so I'll have to wait until next month.
No same-day registration though? I didn't even know that was a thing in places. I could have sworn that when I turned 18 a little over a decade ago in Missouri and asked people how to register, I was told to do it on the day of, but apparently Missouri doesn't allow same-day registration either.

I looked into overseas voting, and realized I was way too late to begin the process of registering. I needed to get ballots a month before the deadline but I wasn't even registered as an overseas voter, so it was a no go.

I'm sorry, I've let everyone down. I'm only being slightly serious here... but my vote would have and should have counted. I had just assumed I couldn't for most of the year and the last election I was busy trying to become a permanent resident. I'll make sure to register beginning of the election year from now on.

Can you not go ahead and register now? Sure, it won't be effective in time for this election, but at least you'll have it taken care of.

Fake edit: This site recommends making a habit of it every January. Don't just wait for a major election year.

I live in Iowa. Asked for my ballot about a week ago but haven't gotten it yet. I did just move, though, so it might have gotten lost. If nothing else, I'll go up to the court house and do an early vote that way.
Assuming you're not planning on being out of town, why would you risk the potential for the auditor's office to send it to the wrong address? I'm in Iowa too and the only time it took longer than 15 minutes at the polling place was after 2000 when they tried to fob electronic voting machines off on us.

Iowa does it.
He's talking about how OR, WA, and CO conduct their elections entirely by mail. Every state does what you're talking about (regular absentee balloting,) although some states are bigger assholes about who's allowed to cast an absentee ballot.

(Not to start a tangent, but personally, I'm not really in favor of all-mail elections. Mail in ballots have a higher spoilage rate, voter list inaccuracies pose a bigger risk especially since lower income and younger voters tend to move more frequently, no chain of custody over ballots, mail-in ballots are where most of the election fraud actual happens, etc...)

I'm tempted to vote early because I don't trust absentee ballots and prefer to vote in person on Election Day, but am dreading the lines and idiocy. Stood behind two shit-cocks in red white and blue Cat In The Hat hats during the 2008 election for 2 hours listening to them drone on about how "McCain is going to squash that ******".
Remember that the person responsible for running the election is also an elected official. If you have to wait more than 15 minutes to vote, don't vote to re-elect them. This shit is a solved problem.

Voting in person tomorrow. Early voting is the shit and should be mandatory nation wide.

There's something even better - mail in voting. I haven't had to go anywhere to vote outside of my mailbox in 20 years. That's what should be nationwide.

Washington here so won't be getting my ballot for another week yet.

I would assume the military doesn't want to have to go to war with everybody that looks at us wrong though. Trump is kind of a unique situation. I could see the military vote going 50/50 at least.

You never know when new information regarding a candidate/provision may turn up. For that reason, I do not vote early.

Voted absentee in Florida (won't be back til next year). My mom and brother are voting sometime next week. My dad already voted (all Ohio).
