Electric Blue! I didn't get a free Mario64 because they were all out and it has one dead pixel, but it's near the top right corner so I'm not too concerned.
It's a lot heavier than I thought. It's probably the battery? Though, I must say I'm fairly impressed. The case/box games come in are neat and way better than the skimping out Nintendo has been doing by not including a cart case with it's GB/GBC/GBA games.(Didn't GB games used to come with a plastic case?) And like people told me, the speakers are pretty spectacular.
Speaking of sound, I've been playing Meteos which has surprisingly good music. I say surprisingly because practically every other puzzle game I've played really didn't have much to talk about in the music department.

DS carts are pretty small. How much more storage space do they have in comparison to SNES carts?

They hold as much as N64 carts but they can easily hold more according to Nintendo. That's about 4-8x as much as SNES. BTW, you should have went to another store and gotten mario 64, the game is great, the mini-games are fantastic.

Oh and yeah, the sound is very surprising, i didn't expect it to be so clear.

Congratulations on getting all that money into the toilet at once!

So... whadda ya think of Kirby Canvas Curse? Been waiting for the unbiased hand of judgement in the official thread, but it never came. *tear*

Tou paid $150 and didn't even get Mario? That time you got choked out by the marine musta killed some brain cells.

As well, buy motherfuckin' kirby.

First I heard of someone getting a DS with a dead pixel. Get it replaced.

Also, yes get Kirby. You should get Puyo Pop Fever too, but that's just my opinion.

I'm not trolling. I honestly believe that buying a DS is pissing away $150. You're free to argue otherwise, at which point I will proceed to shame you.

well, you haven't stated why it's not worth it, and that's (supposed to be at least) the problem, at least according to the belt tightening sticky...

Whats annoying is I could go out, buy some guys turd for 150 dollars and post a thread about it and get banned for trolling, when in fact buying a turd for 150 dollars is the EXACT same thing as buying a DS.

INJUSTICE!

To get a good idea of what each platform needs memory wise, just look at Mario...

Super Mario World~ 0.5MB (4Mbit)
Super Mario 64 DS~ 16MB (128Mbit)

...the largest SNES carts were 6MB in the mid 1990s while Nintendo's mentioned DS cards will reach at least 128MB.

i dont understand these "HAY GUYS I JUST BOUGHT A *****" threads. i mean come on, get a friggin livejournal blog or something

Kirby's alright. I traded it in for Bomberman, which is quite a bit better.

Really you think Bomberman is better? Hmm. Maybe I should pick that up next paycheck along with Meteos.

I've read most of your comments on the DS, and I have to say I think you *want* to believe that...but I don't think you do. :P

To get back on track here...buy Kirby. Buy Bomberman if you have friends with DS'es. If you're a fan of WarioWare, head for Touched! too (though it's commonly accepted that Twisted is better, Touched! is still pretty fun...pick it up used).

1. Lousy current game selection.
2. Shitty, ancient hardware.
3. Ugly and cheap-looking.
4. Controls are poorly-designed, ergonomically speaking.

Just buy a GBA SP and quit wasting yer money on crap. GBA SP has a better library, looks better, and actually uses every feature you pay for.

That's fine. Couple it with your troll next time and it's called opinion. Otherwise, you're just annoying.

you didn't actually have to answer, you weren't gonna get banned anyway

The DS is one giant downfall.

fugimax, since you insist, I shall be GLAD to discuss the DS' extensive faults in length every time I post about it. I thought I was doin' y'all a favor, but hey, I'd much rather indulge myself!

Obligatory DS Flaw #136: Low polygon count. Man, it sure is nostalgic seeing those Kubrick-lookin' characters and triangular mountains! And the occlusion errors -- oy! It's like I'm back playing Toshinden and the first Ridge Racer all over again!

GBA SP!

Agreed. Although the import DSes look a bit better, which is why I'm gunning for one of those :)

The truth. But 1 isn't true anymore, and that's what counts.

I still want the same five PSP games that I wanted at launch. That's criminal.

I suppose my point is, if you have nothing worthwhile to add to the *discussion*, don't say it. If you have a direct response to something in the thread, go for it. I have no problem with you thinking the DS is, in fact, a piece of shit.

I'm not a mod or anything, so do whatever you want, but when I read a post with no cognitive value, I get annoyed...I think this holds for most people.

Bomberman and Kirby don't actually elevate the game selection out of "lousy".

Obligatory DS Flaw #7: Low resolution. 320x240 should have died with EGA.

Who cares if you get annoyed fugi, you support the DS instead of the SP which is a better handheld.
I have an NES SP that I play regularly (Minish Cap...mmmm). If you really want to know which handheld I don't support, check out my dust covered PSP.

Meteos is just another mediocre puzzler on a handheld, like Lumines. Skritching at a screen may make it more palatable to the jaded gamer set initially, but in the end, it's another tediously underdesigned piece of puzzle gaming detritus soon to be forgotten by everyone save fanboys.

Obligatory DS Flaw #188: Super Mario 64 DS. Could they have made the graphics even worse? Bowser's fire looks like he's spitting red and brown pancakes.
