So just started expedition 33

I know. I think it is good that the game found its audience. I did enjoy most of the music and the grim atmosphere of the game. It is just not a game I personally enjoy playing or find it engaging.

Once I got enough abilities and found a way to break the combat system I lost all interest in the game. The added functions towards the end of act 2 or at the beginning of act 3 did nothing for me.

Also the way the ability points functioned the game encouraged to just focus on three characters and buff them up the most. I think it was a bad decision.
For me my biggest issue with its combat it doesn't feel like I'm playing turn based RPG, it feel more like I'm playing action rhythm game.

And once you master the parry it becomes the only solution for every attack no matter who you face and with bosses with big HP that fight becomes exhausting.

Music was for sure a highlight.

That's usually the fun for me in JRPGs, and the team did say it's something they realized would happen and were fine with. The only thing I wish they did a better job of - seeing as how they knew - was to give people more options to truly break the combat system. A sit stands, it's Sciel buffing Maelle and Verso, with Verso finishing off whoever Maelle's Stendhal didn't get.

It's why I refused to fight Simon again on the second playthrough lol. Or the Divergent Star version in the DLC.

After the sweet release of dopamine caused by breaking the combat system there is really nowhere to go. The game is beaten and the challenge is gone.

The same thing happened to me with Vampire Survivors and Path of Exile 2.

Yeah, it happens with "breaking" game economy too. I can't help myself, if there's an exploit in the game(not external) - I will do it, I can't help myself. But then the game gets too easy.

Did that with Elite Dangerous. Few years ago there was a mission exploit where you could make a lot of money very fast. Did that, and then when I could afford to buy all the ships in the game, I quickly ranked up the main factions, and then stopped playing because I could afford to buy anything I wanted at the time.
