So the Xenon GPU is only 2 times more powerful than the Geforce2/3 combo? Alrighty.
Oblivion said:Xbox GPU: 250 mhz
Xbox 360's GPU: 500 mhz

Its GAF and people hate on Nintendo at any given opportunityOblivion said:No. I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy in people who praise Xbox360 for allegedly having 10 times more power, with double the GPU of the original Xbox, yetl jump on the rev. and call it GC 1.5 or whatever because it was supposed to be 2-3 times the clockspeed of the GC gpu.
Ps3 basically has a built in ppu, thanks to the cell. You need a top of the line system with a $600 vid card and a $200+ ppu card, and I don't expect the latter to catch on so it may not even be possible at all to play ps3 games there, not to mention exclusives.[Nintex] said:I expect revolution's hardware to do HDR lightning and other shader model 3.0 stuff.
When I boot up Super Mario Revolution and use the new controller I really dont care how the graphics are, Revolution is the evolution of the Gamecube hardware I expect they use the same efficient architecture. PS3 and Xbox360 games will look nicer, but im sure I can play 70% of those games on my PC.
We're also judging by the rumored specs elsewhere(1Ghzish gecko, sub 100MB of real-ram, in the low 100s if you include slow A-ram, 3MB edram iirc.), honestly we can't expect a miracle to happen in just one spec category, everything else looks like they're probably making an effort to give outdated h/w and save a few cents/bucks, if true.Oblivion said:No.

The 3MB edram thing comes for alpha kits using overclocked Flippers in place of the final GPU (which wasn't finished yet). It'll change in all likelihood.... and now there's questions about a possible CPU change too (from just an overclocked Gekko).Raven. said:We're also judging by the rumored specs elsewhere(1Ghzish gecko, sub 100MB of real-ram, in the low 100s if you include slow A-ram, 3MB edram iirc.), honestly we can't expect a miracle to happen in just one spec category, everything else looks like they're probably making an effort to give outdated h/w and save a few cents/bucks, if true.

ATi's X1900XTX and Nvidia's 7900GTX say otherwise.GaimeGuy said::lol give me a break. PCs will be outdoing next gen consoles by 2008 or 2009, at the latest.

I've not heard of any cpu in the 200+Gflops range arriving this year or next. It is doubtful they'll outclass it where it counts, physics, gphx wise diminishing returns + added game dev. costs, will probably make sure they stay quite close in the gphx arena for years to come.Amir0x said:Like it's even going to take that long. or it could have an sd card slot or two, and a usb port or two up there as well as in the back. there are reasons to have usb both in front and back you know (or maybe you dont apparently). and its not really that big if you consider the whole size of the console.
well it was a stupid decision. they shouldve just dropped the old port completely and made a newer one that could handle audio+component or whatever other output.
and why do you keep saying svga btw? are you just referring to the resolution, or are you referring to the physical port? cause you know its no different from a plain 'vga' port right? or do you just like to anger me?
It's really not that big of a panel on the front, when you consider the actual size of the Revolution. I am basing what I said off of what someone who has actually seen and held the console shell reported.DrGAKMAN said:I see what you guys are saying, but Ando...you're basing that off a conflicting report. The USB *could* be in the back, but why's the flap on the front pannel so big then?

SD on the front. USB, A/V out, and power on the back. Sounds pretty simple, which is exactly what Nintendo wants.
