so at my job we got to peoples houses to do work. this one client had a brand new house that didn't show up on our Garmin or Google maps I jokingly mentioned mapquest and it had the location and directions. I downloaded the app to get voice step by step directions. On the website you can have the directions sent to your phone which was neat. At some point it even asked if I wanted to reroute mid drive due to congestion ahead to save time. I honestly didnt think map quest was even still in business. maybe I need to download Netscape again now.

Im surprised its still going. To me mapquest is a remnant of the pre GPS era when you printed directions. Would never use anything other than google nowadays

thats what I thought as well which is also why I was surprised at how decent the app is. I think I will start using it in place of google maps now.

If I put "starbucks" in the destination box, will the mapquest app show me the directions to the nearest starbucks? That's the biggest complaint I have with the new google maps update. It stopped showing the nearest location of point of interest like starbucks or dunkin donuts. Instead it gives me the address of starbucks 20 miles away when I know for a fact there's one nearby.

just tried it and it showed me a few starbucks close to me and I can touch which one I prefer to get directions

now let me disclaimer that I've used the thing all of twice so far, but I figured a few others should at least know about it. I'm sure it has its fair share of problems as well. as far as the starbucks question yes the top choice was the one closest to me
