Why the f is Reddit so rigid?

I'm still fuming about this. There was an entire subreddit devoted to spreading hate and false information about Saveafox sanctuary and Mikayla. She took it all very personal and it definitely could've been one of the main factors leading to her suicide. Of course it's gone private now in case of her husband may want to take the cyberbullying case to court.

It's baffling that stuff like this is acceptable and mods aren't responding to such pure evil, but write something mean about the rainbow crowd and you're going to get quickly banned from the entire reddit.
I'm confused, what were they saying about her? What is there to hate about?

The format is so bad with the most voted comments that are some silly pun at the top and the rest below. I don't remember a single Reddit user name other than mine cause everyone has so much noise that you never run into the same user again.

From what I understand it was a lot of different stuff, like that she's running the sanctuary only for money and her husband drives a Porsche, or that she abuses the animals and her child (without showing any clear proof of that). Supposedly there was also a lot of jealousy and competition (!) from members and founders of other shelters, the hate didn't come only from reddit, but from sites like tumblr as well.

For me that's just very hard to comprehend that people can hate someone just because they became popular, ignoring the fact that this person clearly loved animals and saved them from being killed in fur farms.

There are many internet communities full of resentful types who come together to obsess over public-facing people and have all the time in the world to go after their targets.

It's frustrating because there's so much good information on the site but the moderation is legit trash. Some of the worst moderation on the internet.

It's not all garbage but lets be real most of it is. Ive said it before, even if you're just trying to find a straight answer with the search results that come up, you've got to scroll through layers of played out nonsense, just endless back and forth circle jerks, and when the answer is there, it's buried underneath 90 comments. I remember getting banned for not using a question mark even when the intent was perfectly clear. I dont post much there unless it's to call out someone getting scammed with fake autographs, which is a whole other story.

Like this one guy showing off his Neo from the matrix cosplay in the matrix subreddit, honestly it looked decent. He had a bunch of Matrix stuff behind him, including the matrix poster and the "signature" Keanu reeves signed, but it was a total fake, id bet my life on it, the COA was bogus too and a well known bunk company. I pointed it out politely, got downvoted, and of course later he says he got it in person, sure. Then you've got people posting obviously fake Nirvana autographs cds with made up backstories about how the real owner tracking it down after 20 years, with letters from the radio station and everything, please. Scams are rampant there, elaborate stories to pull the heart strings and people buy it hook line and sinker.

Definitely not public-facing here, but I recently woke up and saw my reddit inbox was packed full of harassing replies and DMs. Turns out someone dug up a sarcastic comment I had posted almost 3 years ago, took it literally and out of context, screenshotted it, and posted it in a snark forum without blacking out my username. Then some of the people in that sub started digging through my profile and replying to other unrelated comments I had recently posted referring that sarcastic post. Absolutely bizarre behavior.
