So what are you playing on your Micro?

There's something about the GB Micro, especially the 20th Anniversary Micro, that is inspiring me to catch up on series I never really gave a chance until recently. I got Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon, Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, and Gradius Galaxies specifically to play on my Micro, and I will play Metroid Zero Mission on it as well.

How about you?

It's nice. :)

Just finished mario and luigi. Getting back into fire emblem now. Also have to beat that last minish cap boss eventually.

It's not that hard and the game is so great you owe it to yourself to finish!

Just finished Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, now I'm playing Mario and Luigi. Although Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow and Mario Kart DS have put it on the back burner temporarily.

I do think you're right about the micro inspiring more GBA playing. It's so portable that I find myself playing gameboy in places that I wouldn't have before. I play it much more often than I played my GBA SP.

Yes but it annoys me that you can't save in between the last bosses and when I die I have to run back to town first and replenish my health etc - I really don't dig the save system in the game :-/

The recent release of Mario & Luigi 2 on the DS has inspired me to go back and finish the first one on the GBA. I first started it up on the SP but man the screen looks blurry compared to the DS, so I switched it using it.

Question for you Micro owners, then: How does the screen of the Micro measure up to the top screen of the DS, or the SP's screen (not the newer brighter version, which I've not used), in both size and clarity?

I'm really wanting to pick up a Micro, but figured I'd ask first, as the impending release of FFIV has gotten me in the Gameboy swing of things lately... Thanks.

Nate

The micro screen is backlit like the DS one buy much sharper and much much brighter. It looks glorious if the small size is not a problem for your eyes. It is super crisp though.

My son has this rekindled love of all things GBA. That said, what would be better for a 5 year old? Micro or DS?

I think the DS. My only issue is that I know that Nintendo is going to do a redesign. I can feel it in my bones.

I may just get him all the GBA Power Ranger games instead.

Not sure if the touchscreen is good for a 5 year old. I think the micro is too small for him even though it's built pretty solid. Don't want him to be short sighted, right? :)

Maybe one of the new backlit SPs would be best.

My son is super smart (don't all parents think that?). I don't think he'll have issues w/ the touch screen aspect at all. That's actually what I think he'll enjoy the most. BC w/ his GBA library is a good thing too. I just hate the DS's design...

How is he with taking care of stuff? The DS is built tough yes, but the touch screen and stylus can get messed up quick. My nephew who's 8 had his DS for three months and he's very smart with games and everything but can't take care of anything. I took a look at his DS yesterday and it's completely unplayable now, the touch screen is just scratched up all to hell.
I would go with the micro or like already suggested the GBA SP with new backlight.

I agree that the Micro has rekindled my love for portable gaming. I am currently catching up on all the GBA games I missed.

I don't have a Micro, but I have Castlevania Classic in my DS GBA slot currently. Finally beat Frankenstein... only took me like 200 tries.

Oh the DS is great from that aspect, totally throw it in a back, jump on it, play in the bathtub or whatever. You can do that without worry because it is fugly to begin with :)

I just bought a DS a few weeks ago and have been on a binge with that thing. But seeing the Famicom Micro, I think I will be weak and buy it, only to play FF IV when it hits next week. And some really portable Mario love on the go.

Nothing at the moment, but I will be playing Final Fantasy IV Advance rather soon.

I bought the Famicom Micro. :D

Courtesy of a very generous Mejilan.

You helped me out of a bind. Buying you a fantastic game was poor recompense, IMHO.

I recently got back into it, never finished it, started over. Just hit Chapter 16 (Ephraim's route) and I have ALL of my guys either at level 20 (initial class) or level 1 (upgraded class). Just missing 4 or so class up items that I plan on buying at the next secret shop.

Rawk.

So much Fire Emblem love in here! Makes me all warm and fuzzy.

I'm currently playing through...

...again. So much goodness in one little cart.

Quick question, I've been waiting on the Famicom Micro, but I haven't seen it anywhere. Granted I haven't visited EB or Gamestop, but I tend not to lately. Any of you guys seen it anywhere aside from a Gamestop or EB?

Toys R Us, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, anything?

I don't have a Micro, but I've been playing this gem on my GBA SP+:

This game totally rocks, but doesn't ever get mentioned. :(

Dr. Mario/Puzzle League

Wario Ware: Twisted - honestly this game is meant for the Micro. It's easy to turn the gameboy upside down (like on the walking boss) and easy to handle.

FFIV soon...

Right now I just finished the first two Advance Wars games again, and my wife is at the very end of Mario and Luigi.

I second this question. I have been dying to know where I can get one as well--it looks so HOTT!

True that is. I also imagine the rumble effect is more efficient (because of the micro's size)

Just picked up Tactics Ogre. (Again - the first cart I found was a bootleg, luckily there was a store with two legit carts right across the street, and they were cheaper, too). FF4 is next, since I couldn't find any new copies of Golden Sun for my coupon and that's the only other game I'm really interested in.

Wario Ware Twisted would be nice on the GB Micro, but I'd be kind of afraid to play it on the FamiMicro, because the gameplay style is such that I could easily drop it.

Holy crap... I had no idea this game was Pinball Fantasies, one of my favorite pinball titles of all-time! I'll have to check that out. Thanks for posting those pics!

Oh, and back on-topic, I'm playing Gunstar Super Heroes, Advance Wars, and Guru Logi Champ.

I just made the 20th Anniversary Micro an impulse purchase today. My internal struggle is whether to even open the thing. I have a DS and a super duper limited Lime Green SP already, so maybe the Micro would be better left on the shelf next to my Miyamotoa signed gold NES copy of Zelda.

Dude, it's Pinball Fantasies and Pinball Dreams.. all 8 tables in one cart. Really hard to get ahold of now though. As far as I know it was only released here in europe and a very limited run on top of that.

Your choice. I don't have anything else that can play GBA carts (had to borrow my brother's SP), so this was a no-brainer for me, and I'm definitely going to play it.

The first Fire Emblem. I got to the final battle once and had to restart because I didn't have the equipment or levels to win. I haven't played it in a while. I'll be playing Final Fantasy IV next week.

Amazing! I thought those were very well done games; I still bust out the Jaguar version of Pinball Fantasies from time to time. How is this on the GBA?

I'm on a bit of a pinball kick right now, having just bought Extreme Pinball for PS1 (even though I already owned it on PC) and Pinball Hall of Fame for PSP. I'd love it if that combo Pinball Dreams/Pinball Fantasies cartridge came out in the US for GBA!

Only GameStop EB & GameCrazy have the 20th anniversary Micros in stock, but beware - stock is low!

There have been 2-3 per store when I've looked - never any more than that. I wouldn't hold my breath for a second shipment, either. But it's so far under the radar that you should still be able to find them easily, as long as you don't wait for a price-drop or something. That won't happen.

I think for now it stays in the box. I don't need one to play GBA games, and I might regret opening it. Worst case: I can always open it, but can't un-open it, if that makes any sense.

Of course - just like how you can always sell something, but you can't un-sell it later if you regret it.

Although I have the Famicom micro, I'm tempted to get the 20th Anniversary one strictly for collection - keep it in the box and never open it, and then sell it again if it becomes valuable.
