So, what are your CES predictions?

I heard that Toshiba will help give Sony a BIG helping hand with the PS3 online support. This information might get released at CES or it might be released in Feb.

But guys keep this insider info in mind.

What does Toshiba know about online? Fill in a clueless man. :)

sony will go all out in showing blu ray
sony will go all out in pimping their new tv technologies

I think those 2 items will be the main focus of their CES stuff. They will make sure people will want blu ray and want it on sony tvs. After all, those needs out weigh the need to spread the playstation brand. Outside of the movie division and playstation, sony hasnt been profitable in awhie.

Maybe some online thing that ties the ps3, psp, mp3 players, etc into a mega online community. Movies, music, and games.

Sony has 3 major shows in the span of 5 months. CES should give us new info, but I think they'll unveil the most important stuff at the event that EVERYONE has their eyes on (E3)

I have no idea. The guy just told me SONY and TOSHIBA has something big for the PS3 online support.

Is Nintendo going to be at CES? I certainly wouldn't expect them there.
Microsoft will have an X360 display but no news at all.

Sony might delve into OS functionality, online, etc. No RSX details and maybe a playable demo (not public, of course) or two. Nothing really major, that'll be saved for the Feb show. Overall disappointment.

Blu-ray and 1080p displays will be the major focus of the entire show, Sony included.

This will be Sony's show. They got the center stage and the biggest display, all for the PS3.

GAF will absolutely explode come CES, guaranteed.

Disappointment, denial, fantasy, ownage, and all other sorts of entertaining forum material. Why are we getting excited for a CES show, of all things, again? I'd be surprised if they show off anything amazing there... I thought that E3 and a PS3-specific Japanese conference would be more informative and interesting...

Xbox wasn't amazing? :p

It was officially unveiled at a CES, remember.

No. The initial demonstration for the XBOX was pretty lame, actually. This seems more like a venue to tout the Blu-Ray/HDTV tie-in end of things.

This will almost certainly be very hardware oriented since Sony's had a PS3 showed planned for February. But I think they'll still show some games.

I agree, software isn't likely to take centre stage here..

I expect PS3 should take a portion of Stringer's speech. I'm thinking there might be some launch details - maybe even price if we're very lucky. On the floor, I'd expect functionality demonstrations and some new game footage. Price aside, perhaps, I'm thinking that's a reasonable enough expectation. Demos of non-gaming functionality alone would be quite cool :)

I wouldn't expect anything outside of Blu-Ray talk and...maybe...a retread of footage shown before on the system. CES hasn't been very important to the VG industry since before E3 and I don't expect that to change for PS3.

You definitely won't get a date ... I don't think Sony has a clue when they're really aunching at this point. I doubt you'll get a price until E3 either.

I think the best one can hope for is more detail on the interface, and non-gaming features, and interactivity with other devices.

XBox 360 bursts into flames during Bill Gates speech, all in attendance killed trying to escape as the massive fans on the 360 power supply spread the flames quickly.

:lol

- Focus on BluRay and PS3's ability to play BluRay (obviously)
- Lineup of BluRay titles
- Some real-time footage of PS3 titles, but a relative handful.
- E3 (or earlier) will be the PS3 Megaton.

What do you guys think of the possibility that the first "launch movies" for Blu-Ray will be announced at CES?

About 100%, or so I think. Last I checked on the AVS forum a leak had sprung on some of the details for the movies being readied. Included the well know charlies angles, the 2 resident evil movies, some of the newer (just recently out in theater movies), lawrence of arabia, and a few others I don't recall.
