I've got Star Ocean 3 but I forgot to list it. I just checked and I have Okage as well.

Shoot, come to think of it I might be missing a few others but please, keep listing the good RPGs folks.

You're missing SHADOW HEARTS: COVENANT. Final Fantasy XI. X-Men Legends on this side (you got it for GC, of course... so no worries). Shadow Hearts, that's an RPG...like. EverQuest Online Adventures: Frontiers. Bard's Tale. Magic Pengel: The Quest for Color. Legaia 2: Duel Saga (yuck). Summoner 1/2. Wizadry. The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. Okage. Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland. Is Tsugunai an RPG? Dual Hearts. Heroes of Might and Magic: Quest for the Dragon Bone Staff. King's Field: The Ancient City. Eternal Ring. The Nightmare of Druaga. Ephemeral Fantasia. Evergrace. Virtual Quest. Stella Deus. Growlanser I + II. Atelier Iris (Basically).

Note, many of these RPGs are complete trash. I'm just giving you completist version.

As far as I can see, you pretty much got the RPGs locked down for the GC side.

Though Fire Emblem: Path of Radience and Pokemon XD will be needed additions in the ocming months.

Atelier Iris comes out tomorrow!

Don't think these were mentioned yet:

Stella Deus
Growlanser II & III
Shining Tears

Beyond Good and Evil is Zelda-esque, but kind of short if you just go for the story.

Yup, got that one too. I also have Sphinx, which is another Zelda esque game. Its kinda hard to figure out where to draw the line.

Here are some lists of every (I think...) RPG for both platforms, excluding hybrids (Cubivore, EverBlue, Chaos Legion, etc) and adventure titles. I know that last bit rubs some people the wrong way, but you seem to have every Zelda title but the Master Quest bonus disc anyway, so it shouldn't be a big deal. :)

I'm really not going to go down the line and recommend games, though, as I really disagree with the majority on GAF. Like just looking at Amir0x's post above, with him calling most of his list "complete trash," ...I just can't say I agree. So with that said, I don't think my recommendations would be very helpful to what you're trying to accomplish here, so hopefully the lists are good enough. ;)

I didn't say "most", I said "many." That said, of course you'd disagree with me since at least 90% of all RPGs this gen (and all gens, really) are complete ANIMU-inspired tripe, with writing not fit for submission into the mighty database at FANFIC.ORG.

But I digress, I'm sure we'd crossover in a lot of our opinions since you're probably WAY more forgiving than I am of current gen RPGs many, near endless flaws.

Excuse me? Have we even ever had a conversation about RPGs before? Seriously, I can't remember ever talking to you about them, but maybe I'm just blanking on this.

I also didn't know I was into anime-inspired tripe, or even much into anything anime to begin with... but apparently you know more about my tastes than I do. That, or you're just a dick hell-bent on assuming you know me. Which is it?

You came to more conclusions than I did. I was only speaking for myself, and since you said "I can't agree that most of the RPGs [Amir0x] listed are crap", I assume that of course you'd disagree because of [list of reasons I hate most RPGs]. In other words, since I dislike most of the RPGs and you don't, then why wouldn't we disagree? I didn't say you liked those RPGs because of the reasons I hated it. I also assume you're naturally more forgiving than I am since you said you didn't agree with my comment about most of the RPGs I listed being crap.

Right.

The way you wrote it implies that "of course" I'd disagree because everything you hate about them (see rant above) would be right up my alley. That's kind of how the disagreeing thing works, no?

Secondly, the thing most of GAF lacks is a scale of quality. Everybody is perfectly happy being little twits lumping everything in the "shit" category (or "complete trash," if you will), instead of realizing the scale includes things like 'bad,' 'mediocre,' 'average,' 'good,' etc as well. It's either "Great!" or not worth a damn on this forum, and that's why I said I'd disagree.

No disagreeing can be a pretty simple thing. You think something isn't trash, I think something is trash. The reasons you feel it isn't trash may be entirely different from the reasons I feel it is. Don't read too much into it, you'll give yourself a headache.

I think the thing gamers in general lack is some standards. Many gamers simply don't demand more from the titles they get, and so it continues a downward spiral. Taking RPGs as an example. Since when did console RPGs - playing the role of a character - stop needing a quality story? Granted, there was never a great standard to begin with. It started off poorly. But why haven't these games evolved with everything else, in this generation of multi-million polygon counts and high definition gaming? I never realized that most of the appeal of those games were slogging through random battles with choice menus, or hack and slashing through eighty billion dungeons with generic beasties and garbage puzzles. And hell, let's say that IS a good portion of the appeal... since when did games become about only delivering partial quality? (Note: I'm not saying RPG gameplay is necessarily bad) If 1/3 of the game (or movie, or book) is total shit, then doesn't that make the game either aggressively mediocre or not worth the price tag?

So, yes, there are "middle grounds." Of course, many of the games I mention are merely mediocre or bad. But ya know what? I don't really feel like paying 50 or 20 dollars for mediocrity. Others may, but I don't. So that's how I feel.

That's a seperate rant, you realize. It's not necessarily directed at you.
