So Who else gets sick playing video games?

And I don't mean sick OF a game, sick at how much it sucks, or sick in any other way than violently ill.

Ever since about the time of Wolfenstien on PC, there are just certain games that make me nautious to play. The worst is first person shooters, and especially watching other people play them. Not all the time though, so it's a very strange phenomenon, and I'm just wondering if anyone else here has this problem? Sometimes it'll be during an actually good game, so I'll try to tough it out, but have to lay down for a while afterwards.

Here are some of the games that have either made me want to, or actually barf (just one :) ) from either watching or playing:

Wolfenstien
Hexen
Duke Nukem
Mario Kart 64 (only while watching sometimes)
Golden Eye
Iron Man XO-Manowar (playing 2 players totally made me sick.. with the zooming and the shooting, and the bhay-gn-flay-vn)
Halo
RE4
Lego Star Wars
Some racing games, but I cant remember which ones.
probably more, but too painful to remember.

I can not watch my brother play first person games... its like the way he plays takes a whisk to my equilibrium. Also, Conker makes me ill after playing it for a bit, and I think it has something to do with the way the camera rotates.

Red Ninja made me sick. The horrible camera that swings wildly around + low framerate made me sick.

Some games give me migraines.

Some games go heavy on the arcade frills, like loud music, flashy backgrounds, and it hurts my head, like Marvel Vs. Capcom 1, or Sega Sports Jam!

I'm a huge fan of SPRG, but sometimes I'll get headaches when the playing field's a limited isometric board with a colorful or distracting background behind the playing field (Vandal Hearts, Disgaea). The worst for me was Technic Beat. The background behind the chest gave me headaches.

damn, not nearly as sick as you seem to get.
i just picked up Untold Legends (psp) the other day and noticed the blurring/trail of black was messing with my eyes. i guess it helps if i focus on the arrow of the map or just stare at my char. while running.

The only game that ever made me feel sick was Crimson Skies. I dunno why, it just made me dizzy. Has never happened with any other games before or since.

Crimson Sea. Played up to the first boss, and had to shut it off because it was making me dizzy and nauceous. That turned into a major headache afterward.

I get really motion sick playing some games.
The worse is Shenmue, I can't play for more than like 10 minutes without getting sick.

I find a game's controls and guidance have a lot to do with it. Like if I'm running around lost trying to find something I tend to get sick pretty fast.

Riddick; A few minutes in and i started feeling dizzy and soon there after got an intense headache.

And recently it would be Doom 3 for xbox.

I should have after playing this thing at disneyland back in the early 90's.

Besides some Doom clone that I had a shareware version of like 6 years ago, the only game I can think of at this moment was single player TimeSplitters. Multiplayer don't really bother me, but single player.. I could not play it. Maybe I should try again someday. Not that I'm missing much, I'm sure.. :lol

The only game that has made me feel nauseous is Area 51. Strafing around the ship core with all the neon beams shooting around was disorienting.

Receive my condolences :_(
I probably will got insane if the FPS game suddenly makes me sick

kingdom hearts' shitty ass camera made me dizzy
katamari damacy also made me dizzy to play, but i enjoyed watching people play it

If the environments are swirling around really fast all the time, I get a little naseous.

Not racing games, since the environment moves smoothly in one direction (towards you), but games like Sonic Adventure? Like "Oh, I'm looking north. Now west. Now South. Now Northeast." Blarf.

Yeah, some games make me sick. Thew orst ofender was Duke Nukem back in the day, probably because it was fake 3D, just try and look up an elevator shaft and it becomes painfully obvious. I remember I played it over a LAN for a while and when I stopped everything was... wrong... I broke into a cold sweat and had to just lay down and close my eyes.

The most recent game to do it was Conker on N64. Something about blurry N64, a crappy framerate, a camera that's too close/bouncy/swingy... bleh. I didn't play enough to get sick in my stomach, but it gave me a semi-dizzy headache. I've found that first person shooters will bother me if the level design lends itself to looking at nearby walls often, like facility in Goldeneye or indoor areas in Frontline.

Also I think watching other people play FPS games sometimes bothers me because the movement is working for what they're paying attention to, which may be different things than I'm paying attention to.

can't say I get nausea. I suspect playing handhelds is given me headaches though, possibly my eyesight is starting to suck a little.

I couldn't stare at the screen for long when playing Fable or Sudeki because they both use this horrible bloom filter thing to mask flaws in the 3D modelling.

Or maybe the games were trying to tell me something else...

It happened to me with Fable, No One Lives Forever 2, Warcraft 3 and Unreal 2.
The worst time was with Fable, all the other times I just needed a rest and was good to go for another 20-10 minutes. With Fable after 5 minutes the floor needed to be cleaned :lol

Nope, never gotten sick from playing any sort of game. Of course, anything viewed on a screen can agitate a headache or something...but that's hardly game related.

Games that would drive me towards giving up games entirely:

Conker
Shenmue
Gran Turismo 4
Final Fight Streetwise
GTA VC
Red Faction
KOF: Maximum Impact
Banjo Kazooie
X-Men Legends
Fantastic Four
The Incredible Hulk
WWE Smackdown

On the outdoor levels of Goldeneye on the N64 I used to feel sick, I always had my girlfriend pass those levels. The inside levels were fine.

I actually liked kingdom hearts, and it never made me sick... however Katamari did :( but that was one I could usually stick it out for cause it was so fun.

Oh, also in Tekken 5 playing Jinpachi over and over again trying to beat him eventually stated hurting my eyes from the bright purple crap floating all around him.

See, I got sick playing the N64 version of Conker to and I thought it had to do with the hardware... but the Xbox version makes me just as sick. I want to enjoy the game but my body is rebelling against me.

in skies of arcadia, when you went through that big black smoke wall thing, i can't remember the name off hand, you had to go through holes in the clouds that were like big long tubes and they had a weird texture spinning around and around, and i almost threw up once. thats about it.

my dad can't take almost any 3d games. gets motion sickness bad.

It's commonly called Virtual Sickness.. and I suffer from it as well... though I'm hoping getting my glasses prescription updated will solve the problem for me.

The only time Im in bad shape is when I play Halo2 for 3 hours straight when friends are over. After that my head feels like a tennis ball.

I made a friend's kid brother go into an epileptic fit when I beat a Mega Man 2 boss back in the day. Sucked to be him.

As for myself, Ecco used to get me super dizzy, as does watching someone play any given FPS.

Oh god. The first time I experienced this was also with Wolfenstein. It happens to me in a few games, mostly fps games. It usually happens when I'm lost, or when I don't know what to do.

My list:
Wolfenstein
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Mario 64
Mario Sunshine
Halo
Timesplitters 2
Spiderman

I hate it so much. Leaves me dizzy and makes me feel like I'm going to vomit. My only remedy is to stop playing the game and go to sleep.

No, I've never felt sick playing a game.. if anything, they calm me down when I'm feeling ill. Even really fast games like F-Zero GX and WipEout are no sweat.

This has only happened to me a few times in the last few years, mostly when I was playing DAoC and the lag was really bag from a big raid or something.

this happened to me playing freaking gta:sa a few months ago. never before or since. i'm pretty much swearing off video games now though, so eh.

I sometimes get sick from playing fast-paced first-person games, which is probably why I'm not a fan of the genre. I don't remember Wolfenstein ever giving me problems though. Eternal Darkness on the GameCube made feel dizzy a few times.

Anyone ever play Doki Doki Panic (the original game that became Super Mario Bros. 2/USA)? The waterfalls animate so fast in that game it could make anyone sick...

The only time I've ever suffered from motion sickness was from the HL2 jetski levels.

Outside of that I can handle most of the other shooters. Though trying to play gunner on a laggy BF2 chopper is coming pretty close to nausea inducing.

My wife can't play First Person Shooters or GTA-style games or she gets a headache and nauseous. That's why she prefers animal crossing and slow paced games like FFT and certain other RPG's. I've never had a problem though.
