Radio shows are fun. I started doing one last year, and it was a blast. My co-host isn't back this year, which is sort of a bummer, but I will manage. I think I run a pretty good show. I'm probably transferring schools next fall, so I'll be recording my shows so I can get in at my new school. It'll be easier to say "here's what I play" to show that I know what I'm doing.

I go Tuesday nights, 8pm-10pm Central. I think I can go Saturday nights between 8 and midnight if I want, too, and plan on it, once in a while. I'm out of town almost every weekend, though. I don't start for another week or so, but I'll put up the link when I start, if you guys want to listen.

I'm the training director for WXDU-Durham and have a show every Monday from 7-9am EST. College and/or community radio is a glorious thing; anyone here who follows the music discussion should look into getting involved with your local radio station.

This is a perfect opportunity to infect a small percentage of the public with GAF slang.

I just thought of something. At your station, Matlock, night time is only "Urban" music? That's fucking whack. What we have to play is *really* limited (6 songs in a 2 hour set from the top 30, basically) so it's super free form. My co-host and I would always back stuff like The Locust or whatever with some great hip-hop. Narrowing what can be played like that is laaaame!

Eh? Limiting timeslots by *genre* is a good thing, mostly. At least if it's not done all the time. It makes it easier to find music you like and not have to channelsurf for it constantly.

The way I hear it is is pretty much like so: from 8PM-6AM or so, they play urban music. The rest of the day, they play alternative/college/your term here.

As for creative control, I have no idea. I'm guessing I'll just be running through their preset playlist for now. :p
