What wario said. It's online only, so as soon as the beta's over, the beta servers are shutdown. I highly doubt they include any offline content on this beta (don't think they did on the socom 2 beta).
 
I played the SOCOM II beta. It was horrible getting booted every 10 mins, but I kept coming back for some reason. :( On the bright side, I got to kill a few gaffers without them really knowing who I was.

In preparation for the beta, I am going to play Socom II again till I get the kit. When do you guys play now?

edit: Ugh, I finally found my disc and the PS2 wouldn't read it, the disc is too scratched!!
 
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I got the E-mail but I was stuck at work tonight very late and now the Beta program is full! Damn it!!!!!!!!!!!
 
I fucking hate all of you that got one. The fact that I took Ratchet, does that affect my chances of being in Socom 3??

Yes. It works like this, by accepting a beta, you won't be eligible for the next one that follows after it.

you sure? i was in the battlefield modern combat beta too (i thought that was the last one? or does it go by company?)

After Battlefield Modern Combat, 25 to Life followed(IIRC), then JAK X, then Ratchet Deadlocked, and now SOCOM 3.
 
can't be in 2 betas at one time, but i dont understand how some poeple just got the Jak X disc and got invited to Socom 3 at the same time
 
I don't know about you guys, but I plan to make the most out of my beta and tell them every single gun that is unbalanced, every glitch, every complaint I find with the damn thing.

After SOCOM II and losing wars from glitchers and cheaters I'm ready to do what it takes to make SOCOM 3 the best one yet.
 
i see some of you are as passionate about socom as i am about madden. why doesn't EA have a madden/ncaa/etc online beta? most of us would find the bugs within 1 or 2 days tops (probably within 30 minutes for 90% of the cheese plays)

god, I wish. that's why all sports reviews are rubbish. it takes some time and care to find the bugs in sports games.
 
plus with EA games if you bad mouth the games, EA will threaten the website owner and make you edit that out. what are you scared of EA!!!!!!!!! send me madden 2006 and let me review it the way it should be reviewed!

dont get your hopes up, but gunstar if for whatever reason my ps2 doesn't work, or the new NA i bought doesn't work, i'll send you my copy of the beta.

but i anticipate it will work :D

Well, if it doesn't then I would be more then willing to take it off your hands. I figure once August 9th hits I will be ok.
 
I just got my confirmation today. I heard stage 1 was just a lottery selection, and now you find out for sure :/

Don't know if that's true.
 
the manual is on the beta site. controls pretty much remain the same except for 1 major improvement. L2 now activates voice chat, so you can run and gun while speaking. L1 switches primary and secondary weapons
 
And when it ships on August 19th, let me know if you don't want it :D Although I couldn't imagine someone not wanting to beta test SOCOM 3.
