SOCOM 3: Official

Looking good and looking fun!

Vehicles YES!!!
Can it be gentleman a true Halo killer ha ha ha!
To be honest I always prefered socom series for realism.
The Halo series is the best sci fi fps no questions.

Shit, at this point I prefer Socom over Halo just cause there aren't any cheaters and and ratio of immature players is lower

Socom was just as bad or worse as far as immaturity goes,I've been TKed more than I can count in Socom 2,for no reason!

You obviously haven't played recently, SOCOM is a haven for people looking for a solid online experience.

The hit detection issues are a problem though. Aside from that, it's a solid game.

I just quit playing when Halo 2 came out,it had just as many douches.

And yea,I said earlier the hit detection is just awful sometimes.

Although it comes from the Gamespot piece, which was quoted somewhere above the screens. If you didn't read this one, then it doesn't apply I guess. ;)

Doh! Didn't see the gamespot piece.

Uh oh! The plot thickens. . .

Apparently these screens aren't official, and allegedly make the game look worse than it actually does. :X

This comes from Brent Thomas a 3D artist for Zipper.

My interest is piqued!

What the hell? Not official? They're on like all gaming sites now...maybe he meants not finalized

Yeah, I've got no idea; but he mentioned that some of the shots currently available are "missing the sky".

I'm guessing that's what's going on in some of the muddier looking images.

For example:

Etc.

Wonder when the Beta's start up?

Assuming the game is coming out in November 2005, they'll probably start the beta testing 2 months prior to that, so maybe September? I think Socom 2 came out in November too and the beta test started around the end of September

"Once you've taken out your foes, you can hop into a nearby humvee, which will seat your whole posse, and race off down the road to your next objective. While you make your way through the rough terrain, you'll encounter some resistance which you can deal with by manning the turret at the top of the car. An unexpected obstacle we encountered was a sandstorm, which obscured visibility, requiring us to switch to our thermal vision and take out some opportunistic baddies trying to use the storm as cover."

Sounds like they overhauled the single player campaign. Too bad there's still gonna be stealth missions...at least the new checkpoint system will make it less frustrating.

I wished they would comment on the framerate, but I guess it's too premature to say anything this early

The vehicles had better be able to be damaged by RPG rounds.

Sort of the same way I want to be able to hack elephants and horses to death in Dynasty Warriors games. Use the ivory for my weapon handle. :P

Online play might be fun with the SEALS swimming stealthly to do a suprise attack.

And if the collective Socom gaming community I.Q. miraculously increases ten fold. :P

One of the biggest problems I had with Socom 2. . .

I have the last hostage. The mission is blown, and it's time to kill the terrorists.

One of my team mates radios, "Where are you?"

"I'm in the North East extraction zone."

Here come the terrorists.

"Where?!"

Busy returning fire.

"Where are you?!"

Get killed, hostage gets shot.

Mission failed.

NORTH EAST.

LEARN TO READ A MAP, WOMAN-MAN!

Crimminey.

Things in the videos that I want in the online portion:

-Customizable Weapons
-Vehicles (!)
-Running people over with Vehicles (!)

Yeah, that just about does it. :D

Looks awesome, it seems they've improved the graphics engine. Socom 2 was the best online tactical shooter IMO, RS3 was good too but I found Socom more fun.

if by some miracle they can make it 32 players online then they would have a battlefield KILLER.

but that wont be happening.

Zipper Interactive needs to make a deal with Konami to put in Snake with his crocodile hat in the game :P

Not a chance. The hit detection would be so far over the place - it'd be like firing an M14 in Bitter Jungle and only achieving the effect of an F90.

For me, all they need to do is just upping the frame rate and kill the guy working on the net code. That would make a good SOCOM 3. I have bad dreams of people flying on vehicles at 10fps.

Looks awesome :o Just wish I could steal Wario's skills. That said, I got dibs on the hummer! I wanna run some folks over.
