Since this is SOCOM that we're talking about it has to have the multiplayer. What would be the point otherwise? It would be criminal to force SOCOM players to just play by themselves and so Fireteam Bravo will be supporting both ad hoc and infrastructure multiplayer modes through a Wi-Fi connection. Unfortunately, Zipper wouldn't tell us just how many people could play in the multiplayer games, but they are saying that players will be able to form clans for some team-based action. Again, expect more details to be forthcoming in the next few months.

This is now my most wanted PSP game! Great news week so far!

Man, why would anyone want SOCOM on a handheld.

The game just doesn't fit the portable style of play. Handheld games are meant to be picked up and put down, SOCOM can last for 1-2 hours per session.

IMHO, more for the multiplayer. I can definitely see myself jumping in an online game for a round or two, especially with the instant-on functionality; and the Ad-Hoc possibilites are just aweful for productivity in my lab, I forsee a few more 'chats' with the Doc over how we spend our paid time :D

I guess that's a good point.

My concerns stem mostly from matches in SOCOM (which can be notoriously long) where people literally fight for every second on the clock and before you know it your battery dies in the middle of a clan match.

Just so you guys know - I had a GB match go for FOUR HOURS less than a week ago.

3 maps: Requiem, Blizzard, Crossroads.

Id be surprised if respawning wasn't the default for the PSP version, so that'll add to the pick up and play element. I couldnt see getting laid out with a 'nade 10 seconds in the round and waiting 5 minutes hoping my battery isn't going die on me working out very well. :)
