just wondering if anyone's had to repair a broken ac jack connector for a compaq notebook. i have a presario 2100 and the pin in the nook where you plug the ac power plug into the computer has broken off. (plug's fine, it's the part connected to the motherboard that's pooped). it'll cost $270 to fix, but the part's only $20, at most. think it's a job i can handle at home?

You can find a detailed description of how to open up your notebook.

Assuming you can do some soldering, and the only problem is that the connector broke free of the solder, it should not be hard to fix.
