The controller looks interesting. Not bad for a fanmade attempt.

Quite possibly the stupidest looking controller ever. It's like an xtreme version of that joke NGC controller that had the "WIN" button :lol

the nintendo revolution will for now on be known as the simon simulator 2000

but with only 2 buttons to press!

by winning the game you'd be presented with a screen that says....

"You have just programmed the entire game of Donkey Kong in binary, but we won't let you play it. Buy now for $19.99"

I really like the shape of the controller, but not for gaming. Maybe if it was a keyboard controller, but than it would have to be much bigger.
Great attampt tough.

well, you know, games are getting too hard for casuals and i see this as a step in the right direction!

like feeling a controller is going to help when they're still getting their heads around the concept of pressing buttons

dopey can you hear me?
DOPEY CAN YOU FEEL ME?

DOPEY...CAN YOU SEE ME?

I know it's a fakey render but still:

From a cool and comfortable GameCube controller to this? 10 steps backward if not more.

Nintendo, don't dissapoint me damnit!

The buttons (and lack thereof) on the controller are unacceptable, but the overall design of it isn't bad. The system on the other hand... :(

Great artwork for a fan design. Controller leaves a little bit to be desired though.

Funny thing is I have a feeling even if Revolution turns out to be God's gift to gaming 75-90% of GAF will find some reason to bitch and moan.

Funny, but whoever made that used an old pic of the GCN controller. It still has the kidney bean B, the rounded red Start nub, and the different colors for B and A.

I don't know how I feel about the C-Pad... that could work if done with care and precision, and would fit some of the descriptions. But the right side looks to be a huge waste with only two buttons, and while the grips and shoulder buttons push it up to being just one button less than the GCN controller (not counting the missing C-Stick and D-Pad, which the Gyro might make up for at least one of those)... Eh, I just don't think I like it.

Truth be told, I'm starting to really wonder about the gyro idea, if it's just going to be integrated into a standard controller (and not something special/detachable like some have suggested). What can it do while you're playing a game? Movement control would be too awkward. Camera control would be frustrating if you unconsciously shift the controller, or do so to better focus on a single action (button mashing to get past an event, for example), and some might just get seasick from that. Unless there are dedicated gyro sequences, I really don't know how it would be used in, say, the next Mario platformer.

when did Nintendo ever confirm gyros again? I really hope they don't go with that. while it would be a cool tech demo, it wouldn't be cool for most games. :P

That is one of the more stupid mock-ups that I've seen in a while.

If the new system is backwards compatible, then either 1) the new controllers will be used INSTEAD of GC controllers, or 2) there will be a way to use 4 GC controllers on the system. Nintendo isn't going to put two ports for GC games when they are the company responsible for reviving 4-player gaming in the console market.

I'm assuming the "cartridge slot" is supposed to mean "Revolution jacketed disk slot". I was seriously wondering why the illustrator was implying that N64/SNES/NES carts would plug into a disk bay.
