Someone spilled soda all over my keyboard. What's the best way to get it unsticky?

This'll require more than just popping the buttons off, it's all up in the scroll wheel and jamming the buttons on top. And no, I don't know who.

Negative Matlock, some of this is literally on the inside of the keyboard. I was thinking about soaking it in the bathtub.

disassemble it, wash the non-electronic bits, use rubbing alcohol on the electronic bits, let everything dry THOROUGHLY, and then put it back together.

something similar happened to my laptop a month or so ago. now that was a pain in the ass. managed to clean it up, though.

When I spilled liquid over my keyboard once, I opened it, rubbed it dry, and used a hair dryer to dry it.

But POP?...I guess that soaking thing may have to do.

why is it that whenever i spill something on my keyboard it gets completely fried, and when everyone else does it just gets sticky?

because you are the only one that actually spills stuff on their keyboard. Everyone else jizzes on it while watching porn.

Do you have a high pressure shower?

Hit the shower on high blast and just have the water hit all the keys, moving it back and forth in the water for like 5-10 minutes. Dry it out some by grabbing it from one end and just swinging it around like it's a bat. Do this in the bathroom because a lot of water will come out. Wrap it in a towel and let it dry in a warm dry place for a while.

It's nice if you have an extra keyboard. You can let it dry for a good week while you type with a spare.I got sick and tired of opening keyboards and cleaing them out like that. Using the shower got the keyboard cleaner and it was much faster (though drying took longer).

I agree with the spraying of the water. Sugar water will take much longer to clean up and you'll never really get rid of all the stickyness unless you go to town on that thing. It already has syrupy crap on it; you can't really hurt it anymore.

Though I wonder, since water does have a tendency to rust the metallic parts at times, would dunking it in rubbing or isophoryl (sp) alcohol be better? It would definitely dry faster, but it may damage the plastic. I'll have to try it out with a throwaway keyboard someday.

Dishwasher, top rack, keys facing down or sideways.

Then place it somewhere that's drafty (air blowing on it) for a few days.

In the mean time, use your crappy backup keyboard.

I spilt pop on my keyboard once...
...it fried within a few minutes.

First, stop using it.
Second, diassemble the thing complete, and wash all the parts with soap water - as if you were washing dishes.

Or just buy a new one.

This happened last Friday. My roommate starting giving away my Root Beet and when I stumbled into my room later that night there was a can of it spilled all over my desk, including keyboard and papers. Needless to say, I was pretty upset.

It's not like those Elites are exactly cheap either.

Anyways, I took it apart and let it soak. My PC's messed up anyways, so no worries.
