Peace Attack by Sonic Youth is just a great song (DON'T call me a hippie). Especially at like 4:38. Ahh man, it's bliss.

Happy songs?

Peter Gabriel--Sledgehammer. Especially when driving to work--it takes my mind off the drudgery that I'm about to endure.
Stevie Wonder's "Do I Do" is also great, and is just the right length (10-1/2 minutes) to completely fill my commute time.

The Housemartins - "The Mighty Ship"

Happiest. Song. Ever. It's a insanely cheerful, bouncy instrumental.

MOGWAI - MOGWAI FEAR SATAN

Most inspirational song ever. It's 16 minutes of instrumental bliss. I highly recommend it for highway driving or if you're just looking for inspiration or motivation.

Lots of stuff, actually. I keep music around wherever I'm at.

Currently though, the cd I'm playing at work is playing "Growing Wings" from the NiGHTS soundtrack, so that's one of many.

The Planet Smashers - Missionary's Downfall

Everybody on your knees
"It's God" say the "Polynesse" [Sic]
They worship me mistakenly
I say "Tiki, who was he?"
Trader Vic at Hinky Dink's
He liked sex and he liked to drink
Built a temple to have fun
Huri Popo everyone

Aku-Aku, Mai-tai
Tonight's the night it'll be just fine
Gombay Smash or Kapu-Kai
Can't be bothered by the 9 to 5
Gotta get down at the coconut lounge tonight

Island people are a generous bunch
Offering drinks and buffet lunch
No missionary could ever see
Their downfall in Tahiti
Could this be paradise?
Hula skirts are really nice
Sweet and fruity drinks with ice
If I die this would suffice

Aku-Aku, Mai-tai
Tonight's the night it'll be just fine
Gombay Smash or Kapu-Kai
Can't be bothered by the 9 to 5
Come on I wuna lei ya at the coconut lounge tonight
Aku-Aku, Mai-tai
Tonight's the night it'll be just fine
Gotta get down at the coconut lounge tonight
Aku-Aku, Mai-tai
Tonight's the night it'll be just fine
Gombay Smash or Kapu-Kai

Travis - Sing

Ooh, that's a good one. I absolutely love Travis. Well, 12 Memories is kind of shit, but no one can deny the power of The Man Who and The Invisible Band. "Side" is one my all-time favorite songs.

The songs that immediately spring to mind:

Guided By Voices - Game of Pricks

Clutch - Big News/Big News II

Makes my jaded ass smile.

+1

Man, the re-recorded version that's on Tigerbomb and the Greatest Hits is soooo fantastic. Now if only I could get the Hunting Knife re-record on CD...

Jitterbug [4X]

You put the boom-boom into my heart
You send my soul sky high when your lovin' starts
Jitterbug into my brain
Goes a bang-bang-bang 'til my feet do the same
But something's bugging you
Something ain't right
My best friend told me what you did last night
Left me sleepin' in my bed
I was dreaming, but I should have been with you instead.

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high (yeah, yeah)

You take the grey skies out of my way
You make the sun shine brighter than Doris Day
Turned a bright spark into a flame
My beats per minute never been the same

'Cause you're my lady, I'm your fool
It makes me crazy when you act so cruel
Come on, baby, let's not fight
We'll go dancing, everything will be all right

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin'' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high (yeah, yeah, baby)

(Jitterbug)
(Jitterbug)

Cuddle up, baby, move in tight
We'll go dancing tomorrow night
It's cold out there, but it's warm in bed
They can dance, we'll stay home instead

(Jitterbug)

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
Take me dancing tonight
Wake me up before you go-go, don't you dare to leave me hanging on like a
yo-yo
Take me dancing

(Boom-boom-boom)

"HI! HO! READY GO!" from "One Piece Music & Song Collection 3" is one of my most current favorites when talking about happy songs. :)

Haven't heard "Hold Me Now" yet? Don't worry, you will, it's the 'car commercial' song of the new album.

Björk: "Hyperballad"
Travis: "Sing"
Gene Kelly: "Singing In The Rain"
Louis Armstrong: "What A Wonderful World"
George Gershwin: "Rhapsody In Blue"
Outkast: "Hey Ya"

And two songs I tried to pimp here a while ago, but nobody listened:

Kings Of Convenience: "I'd Rather Dance With You", just wonderfully catchy and positive.
Euroboys: "One Way Street", you can see the video here by clicking on the small video on the bottom of the page.

Stray Dog and the Chocolate Shake - Grandaddy
Fearless - Pink Floyd
Ribcage - Elbow

Fearless is such an underrated Floyd song. The acoustic guitar is so laid back, as are the lyrics and vocals. Then you have the soccer fan cheering at the end, which all adds up to a truly great and relaxing tune.
