I have been waiting for ages for a Sonic game with a budget. This trailer was cool. I'm in.

Also I'm a sucker for CGI cutscenes (read: obsessed with them) and this seems to have a decent amount 😍

This looks awesome. First 3D Sonic that looks good and that I'm interested in. Always favored the 2D ones because Sega always failed to convert the franchise into three dimensions. I hope this is the one.

I dont read the Sonic comics but everyone says Ian Flynn is a great writer. I am not looking for shakespeare but just a story that is engaging and has likeable characters

I don't care about this game but it clearly looks 100x better than it did after it's first reveal. It actually looks like a (good) Sonic game now. Hope it does well, might buy it later on down the track.

He isn't bad, but I wouldn't praise him either. Had some great momments on the comics, while some other momments are just mediocre at best. He still miles better than Ken Penders mind you.

Looks very weak...and launching one day before GOW:R? Talk about dead on arrival.
I mean I'm no marketing specialist but I don't see GOW:R interfering with Sonic Frontiers very much. A little for sure, but not like it'll eat all its potential sales. If a Mario game was coming out around the same time? Yeah, I'd say DOA.

I actually read **all** the comics just recently, from the first Archie Comics ones to the current IDW run (I clearly hate myself!).
It is a confused mess with too many characters and plot-lines leading nowhere, large chunks of it it was downright painful to read and someone was fk'n obsessed with Echidnas. Afaik, this Flynn guy was tasked with unraveling the clusterfuck and he did a mostly decent job considering what he had to work with. He also leads the current new IDW reboot and it's alright. It starts with a tiresome arc, but it's finding its footing now. The motivation and writing for the new antagonists is unironically good.

I think if the open world wasn't so empty and lifeless, this would look great. The more closed-in areas and on-rails segments look fast and fun, but the open world and "homing float over and punch a robot" gameplay from the other gameplay vids is really janky looking.

I dunno, I'll wait to see the finished game I guess.

It really is nice of Sega to use people straight out of college to make video games, hopefully they stop doing it in the future though.

This thing still looks like pure shit.

Thats why you cant compare apples to oranges. Yoshis wooly world and sekiro came out the exact same day and both sold very well because theyre both aimed at different audiences

Comparatively a game like horizon zero dawn got its lunch ate because it was filling in almost all the same notes as BotW and we all know where the hype train went there…aaand then it got its lunch ate again by arceus and ESPECIALLY by Elden Ring for almost the same exact reasons.

Looks like a bad attempt at Mario Odyssey. Environments look bland and empty, not sure why Sonic needed to be open world.
