Sonic R seems to be running in some sort of higher resolution rather than just being a straight port.
That and it's snowing on the beach resort stage.

Oh god, sold.

Sonic R, Sonic CD, and Sonic the Fighters.

That's all I want, that's all I need, I'll pay you $50 for it and I'll call you in the morning.

Hopefully it'll be running at a higher framerate, too. I have it for the Saturn and it's basically unplayable.

SONIC R!

+1 sales

+1000000 points to Traveler's Tales btw. I always said Sonic R aged gracefully and the proof is here.

I have always said this, and have yet to find anyone that disagrees with me.

Is this for all consoles?

For all consoles that start with Gamecube.....and its about fucking time that Sega makes a game that the fans actually want. I'd take this collection over Shadow with a gun any day of the week.

If it's not a straight port/emulation, the chances of seeing the other Saturn games people creamed themselves over (NiGHTS, Burning Rangers) seem very low.

Prove me wrong, Sega! PROVE ME WRONG!

I played Sonic R the other day, actually.

I was amazed at how good the graphics still hold up to this very day.

Keeping in mind, 3D was never the Saturn's strong point.

There's no way you'll see NiGHTS or Burning Rangers in this collection. It would be impossible to cram the three Sonic games(1 arcade port, 1 PC port, and 1 Sega CD game with large music files) plus a few Saturn games onto a small Gamecube disc.

Just GC so far.

GOD DAMN. Finally all the Sonics I've wanted to play, but couldn't.
That's lame. The story is still the same for me. It's dumb for this to not be released for all consoles. These games were on Sega add-on's that didn't sell that great, so a LOT of people never got the chance to play them. Releasing this to the largest userbase possible allows gamers to finally do so AND allows Sega to make more money. I never understood why these kinds of games can be exclusives sometimes. From a marketing perspective it makes no sense to me.

Yeah, Shadow probably should've been the exclusive one, if there had to be an exclusive one. SMC has done really well on all three consoles. Around 1.5 million so far.

No Knuckles Chaotix, SegaSonic Arcade, or Sonic 3D Blast (Saturn/Windows version)?

Oh well, as long as it includes both the Japanese/European and American music from Sonic CD, I'm sold.

Though Sonic Pocket Adventure, Dynamite Dux, and some of the really obscure Sonic games would have been nice.

By the end of this gen, they should just release a Sonic Mega DVD that has EVERY Sonic to date, the only exception being Shadow.

I do too. I've never played it. We can always hope that they haven't announced all the games for it yet.

This is the wisest move Sega has made all year. I'm glad the rumors were true. I will be buying this on day one.

Well it could have been better (Xbox port).

I love Sonic but can't stand the interlacing problems of the GC. If there are new Sonic R stages though, I just might have to pick it up...

That shot where it's snowing on the beach - Amy and the robot character are there are players 5 and 4 - weren't they only created after this game was made?

So it is a remake then?

What are you, high? GameCube is where the Sonic titles bring in the most $$$ for Sega. Now an Xbox port would be nice, but when you get down to it, Sega will move more units on the GC than they could on the Xbox w/ this compilation.

I meant that it should have also came out on the Xbox (and PS2 as well).

I couldn't stand any of the 3D Sonics (as well as Collection) on the GC because of the graphical issues.

Who'd have thought back in the day you could get almost all Sonic games on a Nintendo console at budget pices?

Euh? No, Amy's existed since Sonic CD (92-93, can't remember which), and 4th place is Eggman/Dr. Robotnik. Both had slightly different looks back then.

There are still some hidden, 'secret' games to be revealed. I'm hoping Chaotix and SegaSonic Arcade at least. I mean, they can't just add those two games to ANOTHER collection, theres nothing left :)

Hmm, this seems to be coming out for the PS2 too in Japan, at the same time as the GC version (August).

nope! Goto Sega.com and then goto the e3 section, they say its coming this summer EXCLUSIVLY for the nintendo GC.

In America. It's coming out on PS2 in Europe and Japan.

The 6 GG titles aren't secret. They're pretty useless on the GC anyhow, since ALL of them were avaliable on Sonic Adventure DX. The 6 here are the 6 missing from SMC+.

Edit: you were right. ARG!

Saturn was an add-on?

This spares me from having to play the Sonic Adventure DX chao raising game, and for that I'm grateful. Unlocked the rest, but Tails's Adventure is possibly the best GG game around.

I do still own Tails's Adventure, but, well, you know. Sega equipment had cheap power supply connectors, and you can only resolder them so many times...
