Sonic piano video

THE BEST THING I HAVE SEEN ON THE INTERNET.....THis week!!! Wow that was fucking amazing.

DCX

goddamn that is so fucking awesome.. makes me want to find my genesis and replay sonic again. forgot how great the music was.

Awesome!

It's sad that no Sonic games past the Genesis era have had such good and memorable music.

And that goes for an incredibly high number of games, too.

A lot of games seemed to have gotten worse musically once they hit the 32 bit era. It's as if the limited instruments in the SNES and Genesis pushed these musicians to another level. The songs in these games were just catchy. One composer who fell off particularly hard in my opnion was Uematsu. I thought his FF6 work was pure genius, but after that, I never really dug any of his work.

Sonic R had pretty good music, maybe not memorable though, but it is very catchy.

That was quite cool.

But... did he have a blindfold on!?

The blindfold thing is really just a gimmick. Any musician with reasonable talent can play his instrument without looking at the keys/strings.

Great music though, I love Sonic tunes.

Well the next-gen is supposed to be a return to the roots of the game so hopefully they are planning new arrangements of the original themes.

This guy's really impressive. I think a lot of today's game music is too ambitious. Earlier games focused on individual themes, whereas nowadays you need a different piece of music for everything. I think Metal Gear is one of the lone exceptions as it has a focused theme song that's catchy as well as the more theme based music.

A funny thing is that the really great music in Sonic Adventure were remixes of the Genesis version of Sonic 3D Blast music.

I wish he did all the other Sonic's too! :(

Man...I don't know how I do it but I always seem to forget how good Sonic's music was. Every time I pop it in for some old school fun I'm blown away.

They've remixed MGS nicely, whereas the FF theme has been cut and dissected and sampled to death through whatever techno filters Square uses.

The first Sonic Adventure came pretty close IMHO.

Damn... that's beautiful, and what a perfect way to cap off a nice, relaxing Sunday afternoon. :)

Makes me realize just how aligned the planets were when it came to Sonic's soundtrack. The bonus level music in piano form gave me goosebumps...

...and I always hated seeing Sonic drown. (T_T)

How can I save the video? I used to be able to copy the google video files from the browser cache before but for some reason it's not working with this one, I tried doing it with Firefox and IE... Any help? :(

I could probably do that if I just played by ear better.. :( Remember that time I wrote down some of the tunes from Chrono Cross and Zelda and recorded them? I'm not bad at that, but it's time-consuming, and I just can't do it at a whim..

Wow, that WAS awesome. I was getting tired of Mario piano sessions so this is quite a refreshing change. I think I prefer it. :)

Awesome. It's amazing how well the classic Sonic tunes lend themselves to the piano.

And I agree on previous comments regarding the lack of good video game music these days. I think the last truly memorable tune was the Delfino tune from Mario Sunshine, and before that it was The Ocarina of Time soundtrack.

Marble Zone FTW. Too bad he plays it so fast, but really when I think of Sonic 1 music, that's gotta be my favorite. There's an OCRM of it that's pretty good...

But yeah, great vid. I love me some Sonic Jam whenever I want to play oldschool.

Yeah, there's 2 really good OCRM's of the Marble zone theme. One of the catchiest Sonic tunes, right next to Starlight, of course.

This... is... awesome.

As someone who plays an instrument, I can't help but nitpick at places, but as a casual observer/hearer, this blew my mind. Well done.

Star Light theme for the freaking WIN.
