Sonic piano video

I could probably do that if I just played by ear better.. :( Remember that time I wrote down some of the tunes from Chrono Cross and Zelda and recorded them? I'm not bad at that, but it's time-consuming, and I just can't do it at a whim..

Forget those games.

Do Sonic 2 and GAF will be eternally greatful.

The links are dead, because I put them on YouSendIt, and that was a week and a half ago. It was in OT, because, you know.. it's off topic.

And I agree on previous comments regarding the lack of good video game music these days. I think the last truly memorable tune was the Delfino tune from Mario Sunshine, and before that it was The Ocarina of Time soundtrack.
I really liked the too-short Petal Meadows theme from Paper Mario 2. That one stuck in my head more than any other song in that game. It really has that oldskool melodic charm.

If I could ever play at least one of those entirely on my keyboard I would be a happy guy.
Too bad I never learned to read notes. =/

Wow, that WAS awesome. I was getting tired of Mario piano sessions so this is quite a refreshing change. I think I prefer it. :)

I do too, and the reason was that Sonic Music, as compared to say, Mario's, was really influenced by pop and modern music. Heck, listen to some Gwen Stefani stuff and it sounds like remixed Sonic music.

A big part of that is that they went out and got Masato Nakamura from Dream Come True (one of Japans biggest bands) to do the music to Sonic and Sonic 2. He's actually used Sonic songs in DCT songs. Sad thing is that reading a recent interview with him, it seems like he really wants to do another Sonic game but hasn't been given a chance to. Here's what he said

'Sonic' is amazingly important to me. As a musician, the 'Sonic' music is really important to me. And if someday down the line, I'm ever given a chance to work on music for 'Sonic' again, I'd be really happy.

Wow, neat info. I'd be happy if he did another one too. :)

ashamedly (not sure if thats a word?), I've haven't really been a fan of Sonic music, but listening to this guy play it changedmy mind. Such nice peaceful melodies.

Actually if you listen to No Doubt - Keep on Dancing it sounds like they took the Zerg theme. BTW FoF check your PM.

anywhere i can hear some of the Dream Come True songs with Sonic in them?

Have no idea where to find it now, but I have a song Dreams Come True did called 'Sweet Dream'. They essentially ripped the melody off that song to give us the ending theme on Sonic 2 right before the credits. Look for it sometime, though the mp3 I have is of bad quality >_>
