Sony Electronics Says Sony Style Store Sales Jump 28 Percent Over Holiday Weekend

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Sony Electronics Inc., the largest unit of Sony Corp.'s U.S.-based electronics businesses, said Friday it saw a solid start to the holiday shopping season, with Sony Style store sales up 28 percent over last year's Thanksgiving weekend.

The company said it had record sales at both its Sony Style fashion retail stores, and online at SonyStyle.com. Internet sales increased 19 percent over the prior year.

Sony Electronics' most popular store items so far have been its VAIO notebook computers, Bravia flat-screen televisions and PlayStation Portables.

Many are, lower-end especially. But they have some of the best products on the market in certain sectors.
