Sony has released a ‘first look’ trailer for this year’s Until Dawn film.

"Instead of making a movie that mirrors the events of the game, we said fuck it and just remade Happy Death Day with no budget."

It will probably be terrible, but I am willing to give the concept a shot. And if it is you get to redo your lives, what horror is in that?

I mean...I get why they didn't just make a 1:1 recreation of the game. It's a mediocre horror movie that becomes enjoyable because you actually get to make choices which result in multiple outcomes.

Not that this looks good though. (also come on, they could at least have put a hot blonde in there)

I am willing to wait a little bit to see more but mostly am neutral on these things till I see more. Really loved the game and overall experience I got from it. Definitely is one of those titles that seemingly is perfect for some horror flick since the entire game feels like a horror flick(by design). I remember watching someone stream a little bit of the game and stopped to avoid spoiling any more of the game for myself

Interesting trivia about Gary Dauberman, the writer / producer :

A shitty movie is called a "daube" in french

I jest. But this is in no way going to be as good as the game, it just isn't. The only way it could be is if it was exactly inline with the game, and had the same actors and even then.. maybe

Half the fun was actually playing it and that is in no way transferable to film.

That would actually be cool and make this movie interesting...but it's Sony lol
Sony's lower budget (especially non Superhero) works can be hit or miss. So far I'm really liking what I'm seeing with that trailer, creatively, and I hope that they didn't just give away too much in the trailer.

It's like a mixture of P.T. and Until Dawn.

This will either be one of those conceptual movies I'll enjoy for the first 3/4 of it (and it has a bad or cheesy ending) while I wonder what could have been, or it will somehow do a decent enough job with that last 1/4 to the point where it sticks a good enough landing.

Gran Turismo stuck it's landing imo.

I have no reason to believe it won't be just as incredible as their Marvel films... and by that I mean complete shit.

Nothing like the game the game is better than people give it credit for, straight game and clear narrative this could be good if you look at it through a typical horror film glasses. I thought the actress was very good in Hellraiser Hulu.

i think this is a cool idea, looks much better than i thought it would. I'll be on the lookout for a trailer.

Gaffers are no fun as usual.

Just copying the game would be boring, i don't want to watch the game in theatres

I totally agree with you. I like the premise here.

Saw this in 4DX, it was fine, some cool deaths at least, though there's a very short"found footage" segment in it which I thought was better than the entire movie; there was one jump scare that was pretty well done and actually got me.
Abe was the "smartest" character, Nina was just annoying.
And it is connected to the game seems to be a prequel if I understood the ending correctly.
