They've sent out another online survey to G.A.P. folk

1. Which option would improve your online gaming experience the most? (Please select one.)
- Friend locator/Buddy list
- Single ID across games
- Headset capability for every game
- Cheat disabling
- Downloadable content
- Game tournaments
- Online cooperative gaming
- Other

2. How important is the following to your overall console online gaming experience? (Rank from Not important at all to extremely important.)
- Web browser
- Chat rooms
- Buddy list
- Hard disk drive
- Single identifier across all games
- Strict etiquette and rule enforcement
- Downloadable content
- Updates for sports rosters
- Other updates
- Voice headsets for some games
- Voice headsets for all games
- Instant Message capabilites

Shouldn't this just be as easy as... look at Xbox Live, then copy and improve?

I've always wondered how helpful surveys such as this are. Hell, I'd probably say that all those things are important. The more features, the better, right? But that doesn't mean I'd use them if Sony spent money on developing them.

What area is this for... N/A or JPN?
Sony's online service is N/A.

... they shouldn't need a questionairre for this...

surely they have already started building this service if the machine is launching in march?

or is this going to be like the last online survey?

"oh, no one log in because our survey showed 80% of people didn't want one" etc etc...

Select one??? It better have all of them or they are fucked.

I guess they are asking cause they want to atleast mention the most popular choosings when they are in a hurry. When they are running for a cab or something. Yeah.

For question one -

All of the above, or don't bother doing an online service. Tournaments is the only one that ISN'T essential, IMO

If they planned to have them all, I would've assumed they wouldn't need to ask people which were the most important features. Just the way the questions are worded says to me that they do not have a plan in place. And whatever plan they do come up with, it is bound to be missing some of these features, which is already putting them behind Xbox Live on XB1.

I don't think they want to directly copy live judging from their comments. They still want to put it in developers hands, I think, only slightly more centralized (maybe singular user ID, friend list)?

If it's free, some concessions is fine in the face of Live. If it's not, then it better be exactly like LIVE, except better.
