Spider-Man director Sam Raimi told SCI FI Wire that Sony Pictures plans to make six of the comic-inspired films, and that he'd consider helming them if he feels as strongly about them as he does the upcoming third installment. "I've heard Amy Pascal [chairman of Sony's motion picture group] say she wants to make six Spider-Man pictures," Raimi said in an interview at the Saturn Awards in Los Angeles. "So I think she's a woman of her word. And if she says there'll be six, there'll be six.

If they stay at the same high quality of the first two, I won't complain. But if they start to go the way of "Batman and Robin" it'll suck bad. I enjoyed the first film, but thought that it was flawed, but the second one was better for me. Will Toby Mcquire want to contine making them? Didn't think he was too hot for a third, let alone any beyond that. You know they're going to eventaully dangle Venom in front of us to get us to come back for another round.

why only six??? theres about 40 years of stories to pick and choose from...much like bond, spider-man or any other comic franchise can last as long as they dont fuck it up.

im sure marvel's new studio would pick up the reigns if sony called it quits.

Marvel's publicly stated that they've been wanting to get in excess of 10+ movie franchises going over the next few years, so that's not surprising, especially given how profitable most of them have been for both Marvel and the movie studios. I don't mind particularly...I don't really care for the Spider-Man movies as they come off flat to me, but they're well done and there are certainly far, far worse things being made regularly.
