Sony Presents: Super Mario

iu

this isn't even as bad as Spider-Man 2. if this was like Spider-Man 2, his jump button would suddenly change into a context sensitive X press for not other reason than it's part of the scripted mission 🤣

Camera is way too loose and flowy. Needs to be stiffer and more restrictive. Mario needs to be more depressed. Decades of oppressing koopas and goombas needs to catch up with his colonial ass. It's about time the people take back the mushroom kingdom. Does the name tell you anything honey? STOLEN LAND.

The camera needs to be more crammed up his ass, I mean Mario's char model should be about a third of the screen space if we really want the Sony experience. Also, he should move slow as shit and his jump should be just marginally higher than the average jump height. Add in some cracks to shimmy through, perhaps some forced stealth sections as Luigi or Toad, some hackey writing to make Peach the most capable, tough, and intelligent of everyone, oh, and some context exclusive crouch sections that take arbitrarily extremely long.

The full AAA experience.

Edit: Oh, and jump is context exclusive as well.

There are a few Super Mario games (and one great Banjo game) very well done on Dreams currently. Play them while Dreams servers are still supported as the games will be impossible to play when the servers will be down.

But yes with Astro-bot you don't really need any Nintendo Mario on PS5. It's so good.

Don't forget the biggest section of the game being a 2+ hour slog controlling Luigi, doing arbitrary tasks while following Daisy in the spirit of Ragnarok's Ironwood.

Nah, jumping would be automatic/contextual only. Granted all this stuff works pre-Astro Bot era, now they've shown they can understand and copy Mario better if they set their mind to it :P

The actual video instead of the parody video, if anyone is interested:

I played around in Unreal Engine 5 and made a showcase of Mario game I always wanted to play. This is a satirical fan made gameplay video used to show off UE5 rendering and it's not something that will be published or monetized. All Super Mario related trademarks are property of Nintendo.
I know the aesthetics aren't the usual Mario, they're not supposed to be. This is a satire. It's obviously an over-the-top alternate version of Mario that isn't supposed to lecture you about what Mario game should be instead. I get that the "remake of X in UE" and "HIRE THIS MAN" have become a meme and you are free to joke about it (this video does to some extent), just don't be the person that takes the video with goomba blood-explosions too seriously.

And for added amusement, here's the Chris Pratt version of Mario:

And the Charlie Day version of Luigi:

Serious talk: I really wonder why some third party developer couldn't just pick up the movie licensed for Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie and just make a multi-platform game out of it. I have a feeling that Nintendo might have first dibs on a licensed movie game. But I get the impression that they have no interested in making a tie-in game based on any of the new Mario movie's.

What's stopping Sony Computer Entertainment, UBI Soft or some other publisher from just picking up the movie license from the upcoming Mario Movie? release it multi-platform, and based everything directly on the movie cannon. What if Activision picked up the movie license rights? Or Rare under Microsoft? It would technically be base don the movie IP and not the game IP.

Sony actually tried to license the Mario franchise for movies between 2014 and 2017 but failed, then the deal was made with Universal.

However that doesn't mean anyone can pick up the "movie IP" and make Mario games out of it since Nintendo itself is one of the producers of the movie and retains all IP rights.

This game will never exist.mainly because Mario universe is very kids oriented.

Just take a look Metroid Prime 4 story and characters, dialogue. Pure cringe stuff.

Nintendos inability to create adult themed games, the video reminded me more of a metal gear conversation. Mildly amusing.

You all laugh at this but this is exactly the type of games most people actually play and enjoy. The Marvel-style banter is fucking toxic and it makes billions.

I don't think this stuff has juice anymore. It's so played out. CO:E33 was so beloved in large part because it was earnest and the characters were written like they give a shit.

You want us all to cry over a little spot-on satire?

It hits because it's so damn accurate
