Sony Presents: Super Mario

It's been said from others with this video going around, but one part I appreciate about it is that it feels like Spider-man, Uncharted, Watch Dogs, Cyberpunk, and others, but it's not roasting one game in particular. It's literally what it says on the tin: Western AAA.

Its a funny vid but people really do think all sony games are the last of us huh...

While I feel their output lately has been rather lackluster, most are open world games with filler 🤷

Serious talk: I really wonder why some third party developer couldn't just pick up the movie licensed for Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie and just make a multi-platform game out of it. I have a feeling that Nintendo might have first dibs on a licensed movie game. But I get the impression that they have no interested in making a tie-in game based on any of the new Mario movie's.

What's stopping Sony Computer Entertainment, UBI Soft or some other publisher from just picking up the movie license from the upcoming Mario Movie? release it multi-platform, and based everything directly on the movie cannon. What if Activision picked up the movie license rights? Or Rare under Microsoft? It would technically be base don the movie IP and not the game IP.

Yeah I know Nintendo owns the game character but what if we made a game, based on the movie character, based on the game?

There's youtube videos out there showing how Astro Bot copies entire levels, sections, game mechanics from different Mario games. But the devs got away with it calling it an homage, or inspiration.

Surprised Nintendo didn't do anything.
Pissed that Sony made a better Mario game than Nintendo?

Missing the part were Mario gets beaten to death with a green pipe and 90% of the game you play as strong independent Peach with a giga-chin to assert her dominance 🤣

nintendo also take "inspiration" from other games too like the small planet levels like ratchet and clank games, ballon fight is basically joust, and lets not forget the whole pokemon design and even art that comes from dragon quest, there is nothing wrong with that, even the nes cpu comes from a gimped down 6502 to avoid IP infringement, it is very common to take inspiration/copy from others, japan companies were known to take "inspiration" from others in the past

but that's why is so hypocritical of them to go against palworld

And every one of those IPs (outside of WatchDogs) COOKED!!! Some are too ignorant to understand the game.

There's a reason facetious bants are a thing. But with this video going around and everyone immediately grokking it, it may be played out.

But a game like Spiderman 2 does it and it sold like hot cakes. Maybe some of those people that say it's played out, are part of a vocal internet minority. But isn't shared by the mainstream audience.

Sony paid Geoff for that TGA goty Award but AstroBot sales are still pitifully low compared to Mario games.

AstroBot sales - 1.5m(Mostly bundles)
Super Mario Odyssey - 30m(mostly sold at full price)
Mario 3D World - 20m

Yes, quality should always be judged by sales numbers on completely different consoles

(And paid for TGA? Come on man, how about the game is just really fucking good and deserves it)

LOL that people are getting all butthurt and defensive about this. It's OK guys. You can spoof, satirize, and laugh at something even if you like that thing.

those astro bot numbers were way before the bundles
