I wouldn't know. I couldn't find that information. Last I heard, I thought Sony was delaying their OLED screens till next year because they weren't quite ready. I guess they must have fixed the problem if there was one.

It's possible they do have a working yield at that size. The ones that do work probably will last quite some time; I've got an OLED phone that hasn't had any display issues going back 3 years.

Insane For Sony
I'd rather have a VGA transreflective LCD @24bit color than 320x480 OLED but that's just me.
Hmm, why? From the comparision, OLEDs seem to have significanant advantage in everything that matters. I actually think it's almost a bad luck for PSP to be having locked specs just now that this screen has become available at Sony, with such clear advantages, one of which being much lower power consumption.

And even i am moderately surprised

Just my luck Sony drops out of the US when they release a Clie with an OLED screen, MS and CF support, remote, and an IR powerful enough to function as a remote.

Changing screen wouldn't exactly be affecting system behaviour/performance aside for the benefit of less battery usage, so I doubt it would be a problem to swap that in the "last minute" IF it was economical - but we don't know how expensive these screens are.

These Clies sell for 800$+ so it's much less of an issue if screens are a bit pricey.

I've had a 320x480 PDA since 2001. It's goddamned time for VGA screens Sony!

OK, but aside from the resolution, which I find to be less important than stuff like contrast, brightness, color quality or power consumption, this screen seems to be just great, and even the resolution seems like a perfect fit for the PSP.

Now, I know this is the biggest OLED screen made so far, and the PSP would need an even bgger one, I think. I also don't know how the prices compare with the older screens, but all those high-end Clies are always expensive, and this one is not really more expensive than some other models that they used to introduce. From that alone it seems that the screen price is not siginificantly different, but I could be wrong.
