Soul Calibur III Questions & Taki Question

Dead or Alive?

DOA's characters are tame compared to Soul Calibur. For all the "BOOBAGE" comments that DOA gets, Soul Calibur games go one step further with the S&M Gear and such IMO.

Yeah, arenas built with fans in the floor to blow up skirts for the win, people.

DOA1 also had loin cloths that didn't cover anything and revealed pink polygons (PSX ver IIRC)

Except Sophitia. Look at her costume history and you'll notice how despite being Greek-inspired, it have been in good taste and one that defines what the character role is.

Did you unlock her hidden underwear outfit in Soul Blade?

Didn't think so. Move on, nothing to see here.

Sophitia's best costume is the 2nd one in SC2, that looks awesome without being indecent. Just because 'thats the way it is' doesnt make it cool.

'Indecent'? Where were you raised, in a monastery? :lol

I hope you never go to the beach, man. If you consider some of the stuff in Soul Calibur 2 'indecent', the sight of a girl in a thong would probably stop your sheltered little heart.

Context, you idiots. You go to the beach, you EXPECT to see women in thongs. You go to a sword fight, you expect to see a woman in sensible fighting gear. Nothing wrong with a little fanservice, but SC2 takes it over the top -- half the shit they wear is fundamentally STUPID. Especially the heels -- what the fuck?

I likes the nekkid wimmenz, but I don't need them in EVERYTHING I play. Is it so hard to make cool female characters that don't have their tits/ass hanging out?

It's appropriate at the beach. Not so much in a fight.

It's not that it's morally wrong, it's just that it's lame that this is what the girls always wear. Guys like Mitsurugi get cool armor and the black and white flame pants. Girls get swim suits. It's boring. There's hardly any cool looking girls in fighting games.

By the same token, you play a videogame, you expect to see fanservice. Nobody with an ounce of common sense is going to mistake Soul Calibur for a museum exhibit celebrating arms and armor of the Middle Ages.

Sure, a lot of the designs are impractical, but they're visually interesting (IMO), so that's forgivable. I'm suspending my disbelief to the extent that I accept undead conquistadors and floating eyeballs as combatants here. The thought of a woman dextrous enough to fight in heels is small potatoes by comparison.

Look no further than Ivy's uniform, or the outfits worn by some of SNK's female characters.

DoA is more of a culprit of lack of appropriateness.

I can see where a few complaints for SCII/III can come in but honestly the appropriate argument doesn't cut it in regards to Taki.

her first costume is just sad, they flop around like crazy.
But that's what Taki does! She's been bouncing for me since Soul Blade, she's not gonna stop now just cuz you don't like it!

Also, not a lot of support garments back then in fantasy times, y'know?

I'll say this,but combine...

You'll have the character with the "best looking" costume of them all not mention it actually fit and it kickass.

Namco board room: "OK, Ivy went from crazed loner to dominatrix during development; complement it with George Washington attire."

You even get this from Seung Mina's 3P gear; you don't get more more form-concealing than that. It's kinda wierd, I almost feel designers should be allowed to go ape-shit with female models at times, Lord knows you can't find some kinda female attire that hasn't been coopted into some wierd niche fetish cult anyways.

That said, Ivy's 3P > the other two.

PS: No one touches Voldo's wierd-ass gear. When I need to own someone but good, I break out the gimp.
