Spaceworld 2000 Video Demos

I was recently interested in going back and looking at the videos of the GameCube unveiling and the game demos at Spaceworld 2000 but found out that my CD-R that I had burnt them too had become corrupted! :(

Does anyone have a link where I can download any videos from the Spaceworld 2000 event? I've tried both IGN Cube and Planet GameCube and they have links to the videos but they are no longer hosted on the server.

Here's some random pics to bring back the memories..

Despite the game only be shown in pre-rendered FMV form, development sources have confirmed to IGNcube that what was on display was actually very conservative and that the final product will look considerably better.

So much for that ;p I would kill for a next gen Wave Race with those graphics!

I remember seeing this screenshot and then i remember seeing the replicators in Stargate SG1. I then got my hopes up and hoped for a giant fight against hoards of these in Metroid Prime. I then remember loving MP but been a bit dissopointed.

I want a giant HUGE fight against hoards (at least 100) of something like those in some next-gen FPS or FPA

Yeah the new Zelda looks a lot better than the SW2000 Zelda.

And damn did Wave Race look better in the video.

You're right!

RE4 and screens of New Zelda rfeally have spoiled me these past few months, I hadn't seen this in a long time and it does look quite average.

Wave Race looked so different in the SW2K reel, both technically and artistically(looked much closer to the original WR64). I wonder if EAD made that CG.

Show me NEOGANON

I don't agree. I much prefer the style of the new Zelda compared to this but I think technically SW2000 Zelda still looks very good. Metroid Prime on the other hand turned out much better, particually the Samus model in the final game compared to the demo.

Man Zelda looks like arse.

I have all of those videos, IGN copies but I have no server to host on.. plus the CDs containing said demo's are 7 hours away by jumbo plane.

I want Metroid Revolution to look this good or better. that Metroid sequence has

-per pixel lighting
-anti-aliasing
-motion blurr
-high polygon models

and probably other things that i'm not aware of.

all of which would've been too much to handle in Gamecube Metroid Prime games, in realtime, at 60fps.

I personally think Metroid Prime is up there with that demo.

If you look at the last two shots with Zelda, you can see the trade-off at the end of a generation's life cycle. Granted the textures are 10x more complex than in 2000, but the volumes of a lot of his accessories (like his leather sash) are not as prominent or smooth. Polygons or textures, the trade off we face till E3.

Whoa whoa, are you saying the textures in the 2000 demo aren't as good as those in the current game? That's one of the biggest differences. The 2005 Zelda shots all feature rather blurry textures. That actually seems to be one of its weakest areas...

Why even compare the two? The Spaceworld demo was equivalent to a cutscene. I doubt those level of graphics were ever designed for anything beyond that small room, the two characters, and no AI. Hopefully the new Zelda takes a page from RE4 and gives us bumpped up graphics for the cutscenes.

Metroid Prime's environments were. and the models were good too. technically not as good as the demo, but a reasonable approximation, to the point where you could say that Nintendo was not TOTALLY lying its ass off. Retro did a great job and i loved MP.

Spaceworld 2000 Zelda demo:

+ smooth 60fps framerate
+ smooth animation, with seemingly good phyisics
+ higher polygon models
+ superior lighting model
- not the best art
- small environment, just a room

Zelda E3 2004:

* large environments
* more textures
* much better art
* better & more FX
- half the framerate of the SW2K demo
- lower polygon models
- animation is not as good

The lighting and animation in the Zelda demo IMO makes it look a bit better than the actual game. You can't really tell from screenshots alone.
