I space out way too much during classes and wondering is there anything that helps to stop spacing out and pay attention in class and when doing hw but something that isnt a perscription drug or anything like that....

Dont worry, I used to have the same problem....acctually you should worry. Best thing to do is eat well before each class. If I never ate anything I would get a headache, sleepy, and bored.

That actually sounds more like a petit mal seizure than ADHD.

Making sure you have enough food and sleep certainly helps. You zone out in all your classes? There should be at least one or two that have your attention on account of them being quite interesting. For the classes you particularly have trouble paying attention in, I suggest you get a bit gung-ho about paying attention for awhile. Write down more notes than usual. Try to ask a lot of questions. In other words, force yourself to engage as much as possible until it becomes natural. I used to have the same problem as you (and occasionally do in boring classes) until I forced my brain into automatically getting into "school mode" as soon as I entered the class. If you're motivated to pay attention, I guarantee you eventually will.

This is really suppsosed to be a problem? I space out allll the time, particularly because the teacher goes on long speeches about stuff that has nothing to do with what we're learning. Whenever I "space out", I usually keep my mind occupied with my problems, often solving quite a few actually. Just keep alert for key words that might mean the teacher has actually decided to do his job that day.

If something doesn't fall within a set a things I find interesting I can't focus on it at all. I also have disorganized thoughts all the time for some reason. A typical conversation might probably go something like this:

Me: Hey... er... what... check this out.

You: ... check what out?

(at this point I'll have probably lost my train of thought entirely)

Me: Donno.

Edit: Try yoga.

same thing happens to me.. sometimes i forget what im talking about mid sentence.

I can rarely pay attention to school/schoolwork unles I'm actively involved in the discussion. I'd rather just stay bored though, instead of spend money on drugs and risk becoming dependent on them. Though I admit, I'll use Aderall or Ritalin towards the end of semesters for final papers.
