Spain: "It's been a month and a half where the PS5 is selling more than the Switch 2 in terms of consoles."

And it literally broke sales records because of it. However, it's not a "one and done" - Nintendo have to keep dropping these system selling tiles to continue to sell systems. That's how Nintendo have survived this long: Nintendo games sells Nintendo hardware.
It worked with the Wii, NDS, GameBoy (thanks to Tetris), the GBA and Switch, not with the N64, the GameCube, the 3DS and the WiiU...

well, i have good and cheap portable 5G connectinon, for 10 dollars per month i have 10 Gb limit each day, so i rather pull out PS5 remote play app and play with my PS5 than bringing switch with me

The SW2 is the least innovative device Nintendo has released since the Wii U. Its basically the SW Pro. Just higher graphical quality and remastered games at full price....maybe even higher than the orginal release? Remastered games should only be $10.00 like Playstation if you own the original copy.

Games on Switch are trash. Same thing on repeat for 20 years.

It's going to be certainly interesting to see how the system sells in the next few months. We should have a pretty damn good idea in January, after the Holidays (including New Year in Asia), and post Metroid / Pokémon launch.

They released a more expensive hardware that doesn't performs as well as similarly priced PS5 digital, with no third party support because dev kits are made of unicorn tendons, with a lesser version of Mario Kart that nobody is happy about and it's the conversation point on YouTube and the Mario kart scene, and a German working simulator with a monkey with little to no interest in gameplay risk or tension or stakes… oh yes, but it has a little Madrid's governor that sings. And nothing to look forward afterwards. With games that aren't in the cartridge when it matter the most: with the hardcore early adopters. With the first ever subscription dependant button on a controller. What could possibly had happened?

how can u say such senseless things

seriously tho, one of the biggest criticism people have of Nintendo is actually how much they mix things up. I'd argue one of the most divisive splits in gaming is between fans who love Tears of the Kingdom/Breath of the Wild and those who prefer Nintendo's older, more traditional approaches.

Their margins are lower than Switch 1, They'll increase the price next year WW for sure.
Sure, but they're still making money on each unit iirc. And they must be making bank on hardware accessories like controllers etc.

Not to mention their software margins, which is where the real money is being made, must be better on Switch 2 with their "variable pricing" approach.

For sure, but investors will start pushing for higher margins, like most companies nowadays.

I will buy it when the revision is out in a couple of years.
However yes, my hype is at zero since the announcement and still is.
Boring product.

Looking at past data it seems Spain is one of the strongholds of Sony in Europe, but it can be that Switch 2 price and lack of a more robust line up is being a problem.

Would need to see more data from different countries to analyze better.

So the people who still don't have the latest iteration of the absolute best-selling line of video games consoles in Europe ever - bar none, no question - and are interested in buying one, currently prefer to spend their money on that rather than on a system that's been out for a few months, costs as much, and still doesn't have many games that can't also be played on its predecessor that has sold more than the Nintendo Wii?

I really don't know what people think they're "proving" with this sort of threads.

Americans dont realise it for the most part, but Europe is sony land, xbox nor nintendo dont stand a chance here, i remember Spain having some crazy ratio of playstation vs xbox units sales too(i think it was last gen so ps4 vs xbox one), and it was 10:1 in favour of sony lool ;)
Spain is as much PlayStation land as it is Nintendo land. In Spain NSW is close to surpass PS4 LTD sales.
Xbox is despised there.

Now compare it to worldwide numbers, ps4 113,5m+ (sept 2020 official info), and switch sits at 153,1m which we can always check at official nintendo site.
See the difference how it looks spain vs worldwide? Spain is "biased" towards sony, and not by small margin if switch didnt outsell ps4 there by now.

Ofc that doesnt mean nintendo consoles dont sell at all, just compared to worldwide spain likes sony consoles lots more.

Well, yeah. Nintendos heavy hitters haven't landed yet. Low-end ports of years old games sold at high prices aren't gonna move units. Switch was a secondary console to many - meaning Switch owners weren't waiting to play the ports Switch 2 is now getting.

Watch it fly off shelves when an Animal Crossing or new 3D Mario lands.
There's a brand new Mario Kart game already out there. MK8 is one of the best selling games ever, maybe more than any individual 3D Mario game.

My biggest issue is the last direct, felt kinda boring and didn't give a reason for anyone who didn't already pick up a Switch 2 to go out now and get one.

It doesn't work that way.
Spain cannot be called PlayStation land (implying that PlayStation is far ahead of the competition) because in the country PlayStation and Nintendo are equally strong, meanwhile it is Xbox who is utterly left in the dust.

So strange seeing folks shitting on either one of these consoles since one's a handheld with different value propositions. Like saying potatoes are selling more than onions in Spain and the potato warriors start discrediting the onions 😂

Fine, lets not call spain playstation land, but lets aknowledge it has much bigger bias towards sony consoles vs whats happening worldwide.

Bu you need both to make a good tortilla I believe

Most of the gap between PS4 and switch comes from Japan. Spain isn't the only country where Switch hasn't outsold PS4. I think places like UK, Germany, etc...the same still applies.

Still if Switch and PS4 are almost tied in Spain, saying that it's Sony-land makes no sense.

The topic is that its surprising that Switch 2, the successor of a console that sold 3M in Spain only managed to outsell an almost 5 year old console for June and July and then it went back to PS5. And saying there's no huge game...the console launched with a god damn Mario Kart. Switch 1 had a Mario Kart charting for an entire generation. How is this not a huge title?

I'm just saying that it's surprising, that's all.

As a day one Switch 2 MK bundle owner, I can understand the feeling. They spent the last years of the console to put almost a new Mario Kart with 48 « new » tracks, and before even getting old, they put a new Mario Kart on a brand new system, while the « old » one being still available and playable on the new one.

I guess that's the main issue with 100% backward compatible consoles, the feeling of what's new and not isn't cristal clear as it used to be before.

Time to retire every Switch 2 console from the shelves and close. Is over for N, has been a good run for the last 100yrs tho.

For only a couple bucks less than a PS5 you get a total bottom of the barrel console.
The value proposition in this gen as a whole is dreadful but Nintendo really takes the cake right now.

They will of course sell millions and millions because consumers are basically idiots but I still hope their anti-consumer asses will taste failure.

Seems like it's still outselling switch 2 in Spain with the latest numbers from gamereactor. Both them and vandal aren't too far off each other with their numbers.
