There are two moans here. One is low pitch and the other is high pitch. In my mind, there are no doubts, this is Hayter. Sutherland has a higher pitch than Hayter. This is no Sutherland here. My initial assumption was he was returning back as Solid Snake but Big Boss? I don't know what is going on in MGS 5 anymore.

I was a bit concerned for a while because i thought what if Sutherland is just a ruse and David Hayter will voice Big Boss in the final game but then i thought about the TPP 30 minutes gameplay demo where Sutherland says "Spit it out" and tells the horse to stop and stuff like that, so i still think Big Boss = Sutherland, Solid Snake = Hayter.

Another thing that almost locked it for me was again that quote from Quinton Flynn the voice of Raiden. Now keep in mind Flynn is a very good friend of Hayter, he calls him David and even prank called him at some event sometime ago.

He said on a podcast just a few days ago this:

more information has been revealed to me, i didn't understand it in the beginning. So then i was perplexed and later it was explained to me, no he (Sutherland) is replacing Big Boss, David will still be Snake.

He also says this:

but you know as well as i do there must be more to the story that none of us really know.

You can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d373xZ6Yz_k#t=28m

This convinced me more than anything else. Sure some doubters would say yes Hayter is still Snake but that doesn't mean he will be in MGSV. But i personally take it as a hint.

I almost want to be team A just to be in that epic picture.
Almost

As someone who's been a fan of Hayter since the beginning and never once thought he needed replacing, I respectfully disagree.

I personally don't think Kojima should be "pushed" into it. If Hayter had zero involvement with TPP or even the MG series as a whole from now on that would be pretty rough for my feels, but does it honestly warrant pressuring Kojima into including him in his works?

Truthfully, I'd rather creative freedom not be encroached.
This is where I'm at. I'm Team A because I want to believe that Kojima is a bad enough dude to pull this off. If he doesn't want to though, I'm not going to try to force it on him.

I don't like guns (like it wasn't obvious), and I'd pretty much like for them to be nonexistent, but I'm also aware that's (pretty much crazy in this world and that it is) not gonna happen any time soon, just as I'm aware people are going to kill other people regardless of them having guns or not (but, I would argue that having guns so easily available raises the risk of gun violence).

Anyways, I'm not arguing the fact that there are people who'd like real guns in MGS. It's just that, as I said in my first post in this thread, I'd prefer them using fake ones if that means that none of my money goes to gun manufacturers. I'd rather have them fixing gameplay issues like instant alert, reflex mode balancing and - here comes one shallow complaint - that annoying pop-in of scenery in the mid-distance, than spending any resources on pursuing gun licenses, so I'd prefer if those were the questions they get to answer in that Facebook interview that sparked this whole discussion.

Although, it is interesting that they apparently didn't license guns from the real manufacturers, as RoyaleDuke said. I wouldn't have the problem if they used those airsoft licenses (or however they are called) again, if it means that none of my money goes to gun manufacturers.
I dig this sentiment and when counter strike took out the real names it was jarring, but nothing that ruined the game. I could live with no more named guns in games.

Metal gear is the only series I feel has any kind of merit using real guns, as the series is specifically about history and how the player changes it. I make a similar caveat for the Nazi symbol used in Wolfenstein, cause I know it's not trying to glorify it.

Metal Gear does a lot to show that weapons do nothing but hurt the situation. Even going so far as to call the main character and his mentor weapons, and spending the entire game explaining the cost of being one. The series is also the most forward thinking in pointing out PMCs at the time unheard of influence on wars.

After building up an entire series predicated on character identifying with specific manufactured weapons, hearing Ocelot declare his love for a Six-shot whats-it, could destroy the series. Hyperbolic of course, but unless Kojima can put some thematic reasons behind it, it would be a glaring omission.
Edit: Do you want me to add you on that pic?
Yes please.

To be honest, first i was upset for Sutherland voicing Big Boss but now i think Kojima was right, he's perfect for that role especially seeing the realistic feeiling Hideo is putting in MGSV.

But , realistic feeling or not, the two David are in

I couldn't agree more. Can you imagine Hayter saying "I won't scatter your sorrow to the heartless sea...I will always be with you"? hell no, it would sounds way too cartoony. Sutherland really NAILED that line.

Agreed - I actually chuckled a bit the first time I heard Kiefer as Snake. "Kept you waiting, huh?" sounded wrong! But I got used to it, and think he's pretty good as Snake!!

Fair enough. I did indeed ask about the gun thing on facebook, so I hope it gets answered. The alert and reflex bits aren't broken, it's how they want the game to be. I don't agree with it, as I'd rather have it MGS2 shoot out the radio style. I feel it'd make more sense if they had to go sound an alarm or call it in.
Oh, I should rephrase that - I didnt' mean those systems are broken, but that I'd pretty much prefer if they went back to some of their older systems, so I agree with you on that point (although I don't remember the system from MGS2 that well, but I loved it in MGS3, and it would suit MGSV just fine if they (re)balanced it a bit).

I am not changing teams here and I really think Hayter is in as Solid Snake atleast. Out of interest what are your thoughts on the Solidus Theory for MGSV?

It was Sutherland's performance to make me realize about Hayter's cartoonish style, but he'll be good as young "David".

I'm not sure if I want to be put in the image after being on #TeamCGI.

Screw it, PUT ME IN!

You beat me to it.

This wishful thinking regarding Hayter is just silly, now.

Eh, it doesn't really matter. Not like it will stop anyone screaming "TEAM A" from playing the game. It's been fun from the start - not like it was ever serious and all of the sudden started being "silly."

Disagree. Sutherland delivered that line terribly. He sounded like he just got back from the dentist.

Hayter would at least add emotion and not sound like someone who is just reading the script while not giving a shit.

Hayter will voice no character in Metal Gear Solid V, the decision made against bringing him back in part Kojima Production's decision to take Big Boss in a different direction from where Hayter's performance style/range excels, and in part Konami's desire to increase mass market appeal and advertising potential for a very expensive and comprehensive project like The Phantom Pain by bringing on a recognisable Hollywood actor.

Last Update for today:

If more want in i can update it tomorrow, for today i'm on phone, sorry.

Ah i don't really care about that theory, never really thought about it too much.

:lol

That makes sense, but who would voice Solid Snake in the inevitable MG1/MG2 remakes? It would be weird to have Sutherland voice a young Snake and have someone else voice Big Boss, especially after Sutherland would have already established himself as a maniacal Big Boss in MGSV.

Is it just me, or is it unusual for Kojima to be speaking about attending motion capture sessions couple of weeks ago if the game is "near completion" (that is - near the alpha/beta/feature complete/whatever stage), which it should be if it was to be released in the spring of 2015?

What I'm trying to say - am I the only one who's afraid the game won't come out any time soon? :|

Well, I admit that's kinda strange but I don't see this game coming out any later than first half 2015. March/April is my bet.

In the ultimate twist it was Team A who are responsible for Hayter not coming back, they kept thinking Hayter was lying about not being in the game and so they kept the pressure off Kojima thus letting him stay content in never bringing Hayter back.

Thanks Team A.

What is this site? Banned from where?

I've never heard of them. Are they like Examiner?

They meant banned from Gaf. Someone made a thread with that as their source for something recently and it got closed straight away.

I'm not familiar with Examiner but Kdramastars write articles based on the smallest of rumours a lot of the time, they just want hits. For a site called that they have a lot of articles that aren't anything to do with Korea.

Bummer. My bad on the shoddy source. I was taking it with a grain of salt anyway, but y'know, thought I'd share it.

I think that's a reference to Zero & Big Boss. The Patriots & Outer Heaven. The failed attempt to accomplish The Boss' dream.

Solid, Liquid & Solidus however are the sins of the Father.

Well, it could mean a lot.
