Sources close to the group say the U2 edition of the popular digital music player will come preloaded with the band's new album, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, along with portions of the Irish supergroup's 25-year catalogue. The iPods will be black and will be made available the same week as the band's 11th studio album, which is slated to be released in the U.S. by Universal Music Group's Interscope Records on November 23.

The custom iPods are part of a larger agreement between the band and Apple. The company will have exclusive rights to sell all the songs from the new album online through its iTunes Music Store for at least the first few weeks following the release.

Anyone interested in a black iPod? I'm guessing a lot of people will jump on this, just to have an iPod that's a bit different.

Interesting..i wonder how limited they'll be. if they're quite limited, i'll be very interested (as you say, having an ipod and still being different is tough nowadays! ;))

Fuck, and I just bought an iPod! I would have shelled out a bit more for that. Not sure how much more though.

Black iPods would hide scratches and dirt better....all iPods should be black

Yes. Dunno if they'll be matt or shiny. I hope they come with special black headphones as well. Ones styled like the B&O ones would be nice. And maybe it's the 60gig version with color screen and iPhoto sync.

They better include a CD with all of that music, or people are going to be in for a rude awakening once they dock their iPods.

(Also, if I had the money to blow I'd be on this like Bush on a flightdeck.)

I would be more interested if it were simply all black and doesn't have a bunch of U2 stuff emblaizoned on it. Not that I dislike U2.

its all moot anyway. I cannot afford one.

This may be the trick to sell me on an iPod. I'm a huge U2 fan and have been curious about the pod for quite some time.

There are many ways to get songs OFF of an Ipod

And Apple doesn't sanction any of them. The point is that the iPod, as designed, isn't meant to transfer music TO a computer via iTunes.
