This thread is for specific episodes of podcasts or audio streams that you found to be really good.

I'll start with this one: a good podcast about probability and statistics:

(Podcast was on Commonwealth Club Inforum but I can't find a good link for it.)

Christians for Israel - These people scare me . . . religion is no basis for foreign policy.

(If you subscribe to the podcast you can access this old show.)

I'll provide more . .

Who am I?

The "mind" and "self" were formerly the domain of philosophers and priests. Today, it’s neurologists who, armed with giant magnets, are asking the big questions, like "How does the brain make me?" We stare into the mirror with Dr. Julian Keenan, reflect on the illusion of self-hood with British neurologist Paul Broks, contemplate the evolution of consciousness with Dr. V. S. Ramachandran. Also, the story of woman who one day woke up as a completely different person.

Emergence:

What happens when there is no leader? Starlings, bees, and ants manage just fine. In fact, they form staggeringly complicated societies, all without a Toscanini to conduct them into harmony. How? That’s our question this hour. We gaze down at the bottom-up logic of cities, Google, even our very own brains. Featured: author Steven Johnson, fire-flyologists John and Elizabeth Buck, biologist E.O. Wilson, Ant expert Debra Gordon, mathematician Steve Strogatz, economist James Surowiecki, and neurologists Oliver Sacks and Christof Koch.

Yeah, I'm a geek. OK.
Radio Lab is a great podcast to subscribe to. I just wish they would put out more episodes.

So queen ants and bees are just figureheads in what is truely an anarchist state?
Hmmm... Might be worth a download, though I've been burned by these sorts of podcasts before.

Actually, the point of emergence is that intelligence/organization can emerge in a bottom up way . . . simple rules & behavior coordinated become complex systems . . . your brain is nothing but a collection of really simple neurons.

I'm with Speculawyer; the Radiolab series is really great. It was a killer of a wait for their new season.

I'd also suggest the Morality, Memory and Forgetting, and Sleep episodes.

I also like Skeptic's Guide to the Universe and Are We Alone podcasts; but I only started getting into them so no specific recommendations from me yet :)

All pretty early episodes. I agree that they haven't been as good lately. :-/

I'll have to try those podcasts you mentioned.

*Bump*

Anyone else have any good podcasts to recommend?

I have browsed some of the NPR ones (Car talk, Fresh air, Paul Harvey archives) but those can be pretty dry after a while.

Tech or gaming podcasts are preferable.

What say you, RSS-GAF?

Main tech/gaming ones I listen to are ExtraLifeRadio and Bombcast. Both are quite good, but only come out every week or two.
