Speculation: Team Ninja to PS3?

Nightbringer

Don´t hit me for my bad english plase
Weeks ago Itagaki said that he prefers a console with better optical disk support than 360 that uses DVD. All of us know that PS3 has this support and it is BD-ROM.

Namco is now more impartial, the reason is that it has been bought by Bandai, another reason is that Namco has now more contacts with Nintendo thanks to the triforce and the fact that Nintendo has some money on Namco.

Is possible that Sony wants Team Ninja because Namco sagas has now more probabilities for be multiplatform?

What does Team Ninja have to do with Namco?? Team Ninja still have multiple projects scheduled for release on Xbox-only platforms. (Ninja Gaiden Black, DOA4, DOAX2, etc.)

No need to build up a conspiracy theory IMO.
Itagaki is just a guy who develops on the product he likes the most, where the money hats are and where he believes there's the biggest market for his games.
He doesn't care about being loyal to a producer.

Buy a Xbox 360 if you love Team Ninja. I don't see them ditching their fanbase.

And Namco wasn't bought by Bandai, I think it was a merger. Also, Namco's VP recently said that it will be hard to port games next gen (I don't think Namco will be too involved in the porting business but you never know). Your post doesn't make any sense to me :\

^^^^^^What he said....

I know folks can be banned... but can folks have the ability to create titles stripped?

They already did it in 2001 when they disappointed all their fans that bought PS2 for their games, they even announced Ninja Gaiden on PS2 before going Xbox exclusive.

Team Ninja never supported the Playstaion format; all they did is port their games from Sega systems to PSX or PS2 (DOA 1 and DOA Hardcore). They have made plenty of Xbox exclusives titles and they have a nice fanbase now. And Ninja Gaiden for PS2 was never officially announced, it was all speculation by the media.

It was announced, there was also an interview with Itagaki discussing about the engine they would use to make Ninja Gaiden on PS2.

We know that Team Ninja is doing DOA4 for the Xbox 360, but it wouldn't surprise me if Team Ninja did a PS3 title or two. DOA2 was released on the PS2, so it's not like Team Ninja is opposed to working on Sony consoles.

I would approve of this news...

triggers for block = painful index fingers.

Well, that and better graphics. (From what we know; but if they aren't, stick with the X360).

wow, and how do you already know that? :rolleyes

Right, because Sony's intent is to come out months after the 360 with a weaker system. If T.I. is the tech whore he claims to be, why wouldn't he want to make a PS3 game at some point?

Why did Namco bring Soul Calibur to the Dreamcast? Because in 1999 it was the most powerful system on the market.

Why did Tecmo port DOA2 to the PS2? Because in 2000 it was the most powerful system on the market.

Why did Tecmo create DOA3 for the XBOX? Because in 2001 it was the most powerful system on the market.

Why is DOA4 coming to XBOX 360? Because in Q4 2005 it'll be the most powrful system on the market.

So I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of Hardcore-esque port of DOA4 come to the PS3 at some point.

Why won't they do Soul Calibur 3 on the X360?!

Who says they won't? Forget what you've heard, forget the denials, the word exclusive is tossed around entirely too much in this day of "time-based" exclusives.... and we simply won't know if Sony locked up SC3 completely or just for a certain amt time.... until sometime after the X360 launches.

Well, because I love SC, I'll buy both. But I'd like to see it on X360 for real... but the assets are already done for the PS3 version, along with all the customisation options, it would probably look kinda long in the tooth relative to the other X360 games... even if the art direction is about a few metric tons better, and even if it has high res with 4XFSAA

PS3?

I thought SC3 was on PS2.

Userbase? Moneyhats? What Darien said? Could be any number of reasons. My main point was about team ninja, not namco, I just used SC/DC as an illustration. SC arcade was a System 12 game, porting it to PS1 would have been a downgrade, and unlike Tekken, at that time it didn't have the brand power to justify the port, whereas on the DC, it could be UPGRADED from the arcade original, and shine on a brand new system. Remember, a lot of people didn't even realize SC originated from the arcades.

What about the original DOA? That's on Playstation 1 - or did some other team at Tecmo port it to the PS?

actually, from what i heard, the PSX didnt have enough RAM for all the motion data plus everything else in SC

you must have missed the rest of the sentence... re-read it

If his "develop for the most powerful system" ideology still rings true, then yes.

We'll see if he still subscribes to that theory in a couple of years.

IMO he won't leave Microsoft because he's built up a very loyal fanbase there and his games have gotten more love on that platform than they have on any other system. Plus the fact that Microsoft will probably spend whatever it takes to keep his games exclusive. I wouldn't be surprised if they made direct payments to him to stay and almost assuradly they would eliminate the licensing fee for his games. I remember J Allard saying a couple of months ago that they would be willing to eliminate the licensing fee entirely for certain developers and special situations.

This is true, but he may be of the (arrogant?) belief that his fans will follow him wherever he goes.

His comments recently have been maybe a little suspicous, but he's probably just rattling MS's cage a little, for more money perhaps ;) I'd be surprised if he upped sticks and left Xbox entirely.

The UK PlayStation site said that Soul Calibur 3 won't appear on any other system EVER, unless there is a PSP port.

One of the biggest and best beat 'em up games around is set to return to PS2 (and only PS2) this October. Wrestling the massive series from the grasp of Electronic Arts, our very own Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) will be publishing Soul Calibur III exclusively on our beloved console. What's more, Sony has the worldwide rights, so you won't see SCIII on any other console... anywhere... ever (unless we eventually see a PSP version, of course).

I don't think it's possible to be any clearer on this issue. I do, however, feel that they will probably release SOUL CALIBUR 360: DUB EDITION at some point, which is exactly like SCIII except with three new characters, an extra job class and a nude mode.

I already know about the news reports as it relates to SC3 and it's exclusivity.

And that's the point I was making. That I would not be surprised if some "Super Champion Edition" of Soul Calibur 3 ends up on the 360 somewhere down the road.

Yes. I'm just sayin', that's about as "locked up completely" as I can imagine... unless there's some exclusivity deal that people can make that specifically says no part of the content in this title can ever appear on another system. Can they do that?

Yeh.

Team Ninja goes nowhere, his games are the highest selling games for Tecmo, on a smaller userbase. He gets his ego fed and thinks he's a rockstar. He doesn't want to battle Tekken and Soul Calibur. Now, about this assumption, how many degrees of separation are we? This is a reach of Dhalsim proportions.

Ninja Gaiden 2 should stay on Xbox 360, each console should have their own set of exclusives.

And there isn't much competition in the "action genre" on the Xbox 360.

Sometimes making a game for the "most popular console" can be a bad thing, too much competition and "shelf crowding."

Why do you think that peice of shit Dead or Alive 3 sold 800,000 units? Because it was the only semi-big name fighting game to get at that time.

Put Ninja Gaiden 2 on PS3...and you have MGS4, DMC4, God of War 2, "next Onimusha (if the Onimusha series is still considered 'big' that is).

The Xbox 360 is on Ninja Gaiden 2, not NG2 on 360...tee hee

*gets shot*
