Another copy & paste movie from Marvel. Comic book movies have run their course, lets have something new, some variety.
I think the problem with reductive negativity is that you can apply basic formats to every film out there, good or bad.
Act 1: Introduction, sets things up
Act 2: Dilemma
Act 3: Resolution
Too many movies use this format, let's get something new.
It's not the fact that you get from A-B, otherwise nothing out there with a trope in would ever get made and the medium would have died off. It's about the journey. Spider-Man purposely skipped the origin story for example, didn't it?
Of course it still comes down to personal preference because we all look for something different. For me, the MCU is like a comic book series or an animated series turned up to 11 and each movie is just another episode or comic. If the MCU wasn't one big connected thing it wouldn't be half as interesting. For you deeper storylines might be what you're looking for in your cinema, but personally I don't think that's what the MCU is going for. New characters often need to be explained, and studios will always go for a certain amount of familiarity because MCU isn't avant-garde film making for niche audiences.
