Didn't know about the Spiderverse connection to that Disney Spiderman cartoon. Thanks OP! Hate the show, but might tune in for that alone

Another thing - for anyone looking to learn more about Morlun and his family, Jim Butcher wrote an excellent Spiderman book called The Darkest Hours on it. Not sure if its canon, but it really should be. Some appearances made by Morluns brothers and sisters, his "sidekick" (can't think of his name and a quick search couldn't find it), Dr. Strange, and Black Cat. It's good stuff.

So if Spider-Gwen is gonna team up with all the other Spider-Men, shouldn't she freak out over the fact that nearly all of them are Peter Parker and that her universe is the odd one out? I hope the writers at least acknowledge this.

We already have seen, that not all Spider-Men featured in Spider-Verse are Peter Parkers. Also, there were other Spider-Women in the Preludes.

Yet more ongoings spinning out of Spider-Verse announced at NYCC:

The other female led Spider-verse on-going announced today at the Marvel Spider-Verse panel is Silk. Robbie Thompson will be writing the tales of Cindy Moon, the other teenager bitten by the radioactive spider that gave Peter Parker his powers. Art for the series will be provided by Stacey Lee and covers by Dave Johnson.

"One new book wasn't enough," Lowe said, leading to the announcement of a new "Silk" series starting in February 2015, from the team of Robbie Thompson and artist Stacey Lee, who joined the panel. The announcement gets loud cheers.

Thompson on his approach to "Silk": "I'm super-thrilled to be a part of the Marvel Universe, and specifically this character." Thompson complimented Slott and Ramos for creating a "fully formed" character in Silk, who is unique but has a distinct place in the Marvel Universe.

"I have always wanted to draw something Spider-Man," Lee said. Thompson said the series will chronicle Cindy Moon's life "from bite to bunker."

More on Spider-Gwen (I can't believe they're actually calling it that):

Lowe made it official: "Spider-Gwen" #1, a new ongoing series featuring the Gwen Stacy version of Spider-Man from "Edge of Spider-Verse" #2, will launch in February 2015 with the creative team of Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez.

Latour said the series will detail what happens to Gwen Stacy's personal life as she adjusts to life as a costumed hero. "For her father, he didn't quite give her the great power equals great responsibility speech, but he essentially gave that speech, and now he has to be put to the test," Latour said. "Both of those characters will challenge each other's assertions. The writer also said "the Mary Janes are still around," the band from the story.

"I wanted something very modern, and get in the head space of what Gwen would do if she was in this superhero world," Rodriguez said of the costume's popular design.

Slott praised the work of Latour and Rodriguez, saying the description of the character going into the "Edge of Spider-Verse" #2 story was only "a Gwen Stacy who is Spider-Man," and the creators really ran with the concept. Slott said it was one of the best single issues he's read this year.

Oh cool, they made it an ongoing! Not in 616 either so they can run their own stories without the baggage of the other universes.

On one hand, I'm excited for the world-building that it being set in its own universe will allow. On the other, I'm a little bummed we're not going to see her getting into hijinks with any other Spider after the event is over. Probably for the best though, there's plenty of Spider-Mens running around 616 as it is.

EDIT: From the Spider-Verse panel

MC2's Spider-Girl, Mayday Parker, is on the cover of "Amazing Spider-Man" #8. "She is a very big part of 'Spider-Verse,'" Lowe said. "She had a wonderful final story that gave her a happy ever after, and everything was so great," Slott said, before conspicuously trailing off -- clearly giving the implication that character is also not safe.

"I think I'm getting really good at killing people," Ramos said of drawing the story. "Did I say something I shouldn't?" "It is one of the most heart-wrenching, gut-wrenching stories you can read," Lowe added.

Slott teasing Mayday fans like the monster he is.

Barda and Free can stand on their own as interesting characters. Take MJ out from Spiderman and you just got boring.

Man i want to read this, but thats a lot of titles its covering

The vast, vast majority of them will be unessential to the actual story if that's what's deterring you. Most of the other books are just side adventures for other characters.

I'm most looking forward to the issue 500 (Old Man?) Spider-Man coming into this. Always thought that costume was really cool. Have they ever delved more into that timeline?

Come on Par, you know better

you know better than this.

Whats an One Note Woman? I am not familiar to this term.

a one note person is a character that doesnt do much but exist to boost another character

616 gwen stacy, half the women pete dates. they arent background characters because they contribute things to story, but there isnt much that defines them

At the end of Grim Hunt,
Madame Web shows Peter a look into the future if he chooses to kill Kraven to avenge Kaine and Mattie, and it shows him eventually adopting that Spider suit and becoming the #500 Spider
but that's the most that's been done with it as far as I can remember.

Spider-UK lol

Why does every UK hero need to have a union jack on their costume

Most of them don't, Captain Britain and Union Jack only do because they were specifically meant to be the British equivalents to Captain America and Spider-UK is just an alternate universe Captain Britain.

Ben Reilly in this?

His Scarlet Spider sleeveless hoodie self is in the Scarlet Spiders mini along with Kaine and Ultimate Jess, his Sensational Spider-Man costumed self is going to show up somewhere else.

Do you guys remember the 90s Spider-Man TV series? The series finale had a plot line very similar to Spider-Verse. Except it involved The Beyonder and Spider-Carnage. I remember it being really cool but I'd almost definitely spoil my nostalgia if I went back and watched it now.

Why you gotta be like that man :/. Annas the best thing Slott has added to Spider-Man in quite a while.

Don’t get me wrong, Anna’s cool and all. Fuck I’d even like to see her with spider powers. Why the hell not? Even so, c’mon, the jokes write themselves.

Ah yes, Anna Maria. Another great character birthed from the SUPERIOR Spider-Man.

I'd kill to see her with some Spider-Powers. There's got to be a universe for it, damn it.

Yes. Please. Just one issue Marvel that's all I want.

SpOck is really the best Spider-Man ever.

Some more Spider-Verse news:

The panel revealed the cover to Amazing Spider-Man #9 by Olivier Coipel and Justin Ponsor, which features Miles Morales and Spider-Woman, along with Silk, Anya Corazon, Spider-Man 2099 and the Superior Spider-Man. Issue #10 features Superior Spider-Man looming ominously, and will have Assassin Spider-Man in the issue.

Next up in the panel is Scarlet Spiders, a three-issue miniseries written by Mike Costa and drawn by Paco Diaz. The series features Ultimate Jessica Drew, Scarlet Spider of the 616 universe, and Ben Reilly, the original Scarlet Spider. "These three, all Parker clones to some degree, are going on a mission that's somewhat clone-related," Costa said. "That's all I can say."

The next book announced was Spider-Verse Team-Up, written by Christos Gage and classic Spidey writers and artists, including Roger Stern and Bob McLeod. Each issue will have two stories - the first written by Gage and drawn by Dave Williams, and a second story by rotating teams. The series will include Spider-Ham, Ben Reilly, and Spider-Man from the 1967 cartoon. The entire audiene then sang the theme from the cartoon.

Spider-Verse #1 will include Miles Morales as well as the cartoon Ultimate Spider-Man will team up - cartoon Ultimate Spidey will talk to the audience, and the 1967 J. Jonah Jameson will never leave his desk (because it's too expensive), Lowe said. Skottie Young will return to Manga Spider-Man, Katie Cook will tell the story of Penelope Parker, an 11-year-old girl who gets "real gross" spider-powers.
