I've just noticed that the news magazine "Der Spiegel" is now hosting some of their articles in English language. Although the print magazine is better than the online version, it is still one of the best sources on the web and shows a somewhat different European (German) view on the world in general.
I've no idea how good the English version will perform in the future but you just might give it a try.
