I'm ready to go Central Standard Time:

Splatoon-gif.gif

I never said it was a demo. I know what it is, doesn't mean a one-hour limit is a good idea. It's just barely worth anyone's time. And if the servers crash for the first 45 minutes and people only get 15 minutes to play you can't deny there will be plenty of unhappy people.
I would rather have working servers that were stress tested for launch.

I don't have a TV currently and when I open the demo just to see what it shows now, I only see "Look at the TV" on the gamepad screen. Can someone tell me if there is a key displayed on the game that lets me choose screens?I've tried everything. Is there an options screen somehow accesible? I want to be ready when it unlocks!
Please don't tell me that it doesn't support off-tv play?!

All it says on the screen is to press ZL + ZR to start the game or to preorder the game from the eshop. There is no options menu.

The game is made for having a TV. From my understanding there is no off-tv support.

Unfortunately I think dual screens is required for online play. You use the Gamepad for the map and to jump to teammates when respawning.

Working late tonight. Sure hope I can download this in time to play it. Definitely won't be touching it on Mother's Day. Awful times indeed. Can't believe it's a measly 3hrs total.

Excited to try this out. I am a horrible scrub at shooters, so I expect to be annihilated (even by brand new players) but it should be a really fun time. Only a few hours away!

(Hopefully my gamepad doesn't crap out on me like it's been lately. May need to send it in for a repair soon.)

I can probably get in on the second hour. The news about the lack of content at launch definitely put brakes on the hype train, but the core gameplay still looks excellent.

I'm gonna be so bummed if there is no off-tv play for multiplayer. Has this been 100% confirmed? Since you just need the map to spawn to other teammates when you die, why couldn't there be a button to bring it up once before you launch? Doesn't really make sense to have no off-tv play just for that function.

well you have to select which teammate to jump to and they might be in different locations

Well you could bring the map up with a button when you need it, and have a minimap or sth for the duration of the game, or no minimap at all. Anyway, looks like I won't be playing :/

part of the first hour wil go away play the tutorial..couldn't they makes s play the tutorial now and then open the servers?

I'd hardly call this a stress test. Most tests last for days, and not just one oddball hour during the day.

Anyways that gif that was shown early has me hyped to play this. Splatoon looks really sharp, and fun to play!

I don't really have a problem with this. I'm going to learn by playing with other people anyway. Though if I'm remembering correctly when they had those niconico streams of splatoon at some convention in Japan it was like 1 minute countdown of the tutorial and then it started the match with a full game. Assuming that it's the same build I guess you may be able to expect queueing into a match while playing the tutorial.

Just a wild guess off of what we've seen. I don't want to bring anyone's hopes up only to be crushed.

This is stress test, stress. Test. No you don't know what it is if your still questioning it.

haha i expected a few people to get confused with the time

still disappointed that it's done in single hours
maybe it wont feel so quick if the matches go by fast

So, probably been asked already, but is this just going to start? Like can I go ahead and just have my demo running now on my Wii U?

So this is in 90 minutes? I'm confused - nowhere says what it is in EST....

EDIT: Checked the first post, 11EST it is.

Whenever in doubt about times, simply google or search for what time is it in the time zone given and compare it to the time you're in. Very easy to do.

Why is this an either/or to you?

Because this is a stress test demo not a traditional one. It is for stress testing the servers.

You can't emulate a ton of people jumping on at the same time if you set it for the whole weekend. They want people to rush on to the servers.

New Japanese commercial

Considering the game is inspired by Shibuya square, feels appropriate. A bit too brief, IMO.

Briefness seems pretty standard for Japanese commericals. They are, from what I've seen, generally a lot more lightening fast than the majority of ads you see elsewhere.
