That's it, then.

Started really liking the Splat Charger by the end of it. Woefully ineffective at spreading ink, but damn if it isn't satisfying killing Rollers with it.

Single player will be useful to really get the hang of aiming. The demo was so limited time-wise that I chose to do well with the Roller instead of experimenting.

Got into it more this time than last night. I tried analog aiming and it sucked, went back to gyro.

This thread is basically "lol so fun I MVP top score winner" the thread now, congrats everyone :P

I did well in these last 2 sessions, but I don't think that's how it's gonna go once the game is out, lol.

Once people actually learn to play the game, it's gonna be a whole different story. I'm interested to see how it changes.

Wow, our team got beat bad during the last and final match. Found out I was the only one doing anything with over 700 while 2nd place around 200 and last 2 had 0......how can anybody get 0?

AFK or disconnects. I was in a couple of games where we had two team mates at 0. Eurgh. Brutal.

This thing is awesome, Pre-ordered the game with the 3 amiibos, see you all in a month!

Same here. Although I had preordered the game last month with just the Squid amiibo since that was the only one available.
Today I preordered the other two. Had to get creative though and order a Japanese girl and Australian boy. Hope they make their way over to Europe safely. ;)

Splattershot Jr: best gun. No contest. Rollers? Just dash back and shoot 'em. Holding onto that shield until just the right moment and then unleashing it in a group shootout... So good!

Hell, even if the actual game is relatively light on maps to begin with I know I could've gone on for hours longer with just these two maps... Combined with a robust single player and plenty of equipment to customize my squid with this game will definitely be worth full price on day one for me.

Did anyone else experience some lag where inklings would just get stuck and not be able to move or when spraying on the ground ink wouldnt show up?

Only tried Splattershot and Jr but I think I'll end preferring those weapons anyway.

Was a lot of fun, won most of the matches I was in, although usually in third last place. Kind of regret not staying up/waking up earlier to join the other matches.

#teamblue

Well I was only able to get in a few matches but man did that play a lot better than expected. Gave me just enough time to realize this will have to be a day one purchase. This is going to be a chaotic and incredibly fun game to play for a long, long time I suspect.

Those moments where you're surrounded by the rivals color and see two rollers come at you from either side, whelp! lol

so what level did you guys get to on that squid jump game

i only got to level 7

I never got past level 1. I barely had time inbetween matches(which is good).

In both tests I played I had no issues finding a game, though I had a few connection errors, especially with the last one.

Had more fun with the game than I expected. Still getting used to gyro controllers, though. I found that using the gyro + right stick makes the whole thing much better.

By the end of the hour, I wa consistently winning in first place in my team, using the Splattershot Jr. I didn't find the roller that great, although rollers on the enemy team were the ones that gave me most trouble.

People who get zero are people who lost connection at the beginning of the match.

One of my matches today had just two people on my team and one on the other. Everyone else disconnected

Ahh I see now, thanks!

Anybody think the 4v4 is perfect or would it be better with a little more like 5v5 or 6v6? Imo, I think 4v4 feels right considering the map sizes though I wouldn't mind more players if they ever have bigger maps.

There's a crashed ufo in the tutorial map o_o

Totally forgot to reset the sensitivity, was wondering why my x aiming was so damn slew. God this game is great, the next few weeks are going to be torture. I'm there day one with ink on.

Did anyone else experience some lag where inklings would just get stuck and not be able to move or when spraying on the ground ink wouldnt show up?

Had that happen once but when ink started to appear again my team was down two players. I assume the players disconnected and caused a slight hiccup.

I'd definitely like the aiming controls with motion tightened up a bit. Having some slight Y axis control would be very beneficial.

Had a blast but got a few bizarre server errors during the midst. Session full, device connect, etc. Nothing too bad, but one did require my to restart the game.

I absolutely preordered it. Very pumped.

Wow, that was amazing. I was worried about rollers being OP in the beginning but I quickly learned to deal with them. They're still hands down the best for turf coverage though. I really wanted to like the Splat Charger but the shitty precision of the GamePad's sticks made it a pain in the ass to use. Overall though, amazing game and I can't wait for the full release.

Just played for an hour for the first time with the kiddos. We passed off the pad after each match. Kids had fun, and I thought it was legit.

Son liked the paint roller while the girl jusy used the regular splattershot.

That's it, then.

Started really liking the Splat Charger by the end of it. Woefully ineffective at spreading ink, but damn if it isn't satisfying killing Rollers with it.

I appreciated the lines of ink one guy I was playing with was throwing down for me, allowing me to charge ahead to get to the top area in the rig map way before the other team could make it. A good charger on your team can be a real game changer even if it seems like more of a support role.

Had more errors this time around than any other, but that might be because it was just a more populated time. Really enjoyed my games even if I had to wake up for it. Didn't do nearly as well as I did the last period, but to be expected I guess. Tried to go with charger, failed miserably again, and went back to splattershot jr and roller. They never let me down. Also fuck, Killer Wail is amazing for just placing in the warehouse for a big line directly to their spawn point. I only managed to do it once and got 2 kills. I also love placing it down just for shits and giggles to see if I can manage a kill through a wall when I'm rolling over the biggest territory in the Salt Rig.

Only annoyances I had this go around besides dropped connections was seeing one person not pull their weight. Fucking Rachel and her 88p and Charger. Pick up the pace girl. Or just a guy sitting around spawn running around in circles slamming the C'mon and Booyah buttons. He helped a lot with his 9p and I'm sure he felt good about it.

I think my closest win was only over 2%. It's real nice to see that 1 minute come up and look at the map then go to town on territories no one is caring about. People fight over the big area on Salt Rig while I mop up the lesser territory and the walkways. Then hopefully with the last push you can get into the big territory and claim enough to eek out the win. That was how I got my 2% win I think.

Hopefully they add more testing times later maybe. I wouldn't mind being able to play a bit more before picking up my copy.

A roller tried to run me over from behind...I jumped backwards and splattered him as I was going above him, it was great!

The wait cor release is going to be loooong

Hmmm not sure what to make of it, felt like I was fighting the controles half the time couldn't seem to get comfortable. Reminded me on the ship controles from the Metroid blast in Nintendo Land which I also hated.
That's unfortunate. I felt that as long as you turned gyro off the game controlled great, pretty similar to your typical third person shooter in terms of the basics, really.

Fuck gyro though. I CAN'T THINK VERTICALLY WITH MY HANDS AND HORIZONTALLY WITH MY THUMB SIMULTANEOUSLY!

I really liked this demo!! But I don't think I would pay the $60 for the game, I'll wait untill it drops to $50 to buy it.

joining friends is in the game day 1. your team just isn't guaranteed to stay together as teams are shuffled after every match, but you can absolutely join friends through your friends list.

the update in august adds the fixed 4 man team.

Yeah I know, it's just not the same. Maybe we'll be able to chain joining each other on our friend lists to maybe be in the same session :P

Still though, Day. One.

spent this last session using only splatterguns (std & jr)

gotta second everyone saying the roller is really not OP. I spent the first session using it, so I knew what to expect, it's not that hard to counter a bad roller player.

really loved my time with the jr. the narrower fire makes it easier to hit with precision. you can't paint effectively (it's so slow trying to undo the work of an opponent roller), but I felt that wasn't really the point of this weapon.

seems everyone smartened up, didn't see as much rollers as before. very few snipers too, the weapon really needs more time to shine.

Forgot there was a thread lol.

That was hella fun. I thought I'd hate the gyro controls but they worked well enough.

Also, team roller for life!!

Again, a lot of fun this session. I was always 1000+ points. Too many people try to either only paint or kill people. You really have to balance things out. Killing enemies in their pain will give you a lot more points than killing them in the middle of yours.

I loved both guns, I also put the sensitivity all the way at the bottom!

Great game, but more woth 45$ not 60. I would glady take it for that price. But right now i am on the fence about it at that price point.

I messed up remembering what time the event stared (thought it was an hour later) and when I started the demo I was surprised it was letting me start before the event started until I realized what was going on. Luckily it meant I accidentally stumbled on the tutorial trick since I was trying to get as much play out of the thtorial before I got kicked off and realized I was able to keep playing.

Not too bad of a consellation for missing the event

Gyro aiming is awful, lol..well with the pad..didn't try anything else gyro based.

Switched to dual analog and actually pulled off the highest score and won a match.

My daughter and I passed the controller back and forth over the hour.

I think you should keep in mind that this isnt anywhere near the full game, its just a demo of one mode, with 4 weapons and 2 maps. With none of the customization options.

I just don't understand how anyone can make any kind of determination, if you like the gameplay, that the game isn't worth the asking price.

We literally how no idea of the actual amount of total content at launch. We do know what is coming and what is time locked, but it is near impossible to make a value determination.

I say people wait 3 weeks for reviews and then say thing like "not worth $60"

That is of course completely dependent on liking the core game play

This demo confirmed what I already knew: I'm so, so bad at shooters. I played five or six rounds and lost every time. I used the Splattershot the first time and the Roller after that.

Damn I wanna get good in sniping, but I'm so bad, lol. There were also games with the roller where I didn't meet any enemy for lengths of time. Feels good if you just can do your job without being disturbed. Some connection errors this time. Hope the server test gave them the info they needed.

Yeah, I'll probably end up buying this.

Seems like it would be a blast to play with friends and voice chat. Such a shame Nintendo didn't include voice chat in the game itself. Coordination is huge in this.

I like the Splattershot and the Roller. The Splat Charger (sniper) seems awful, though. Aiming seemed a little loose too even at the lowest sensitivity, but that you always get used to the more you play.

Am I the only one to have gotten this a bunch of times:

Error code : 118-0513
"Failed to connect to partner's device.
Session might be full.
Please try again later
If the problem persists, your internet settings may need to be optimized for connecting to a partner."

All I had to do was to retry a few times until it found a proper session to join but still I'm worried if the game's gonna give me that at launch. So yeah, was it normal or was it related to MY internet?

Also, netcode for this game is GREAT imo.

I started to splatterhop more in the final hour, if done properly it changes the course of the match exponentially. The other team is thrown off when I rush to the northern area in saltspray where the rig is at the beginning lol.

Only ended up with 1 error this time, and was able to get a lot of matches in. This game is so much fun! I can't wait to try out the other maps and weapons.
