Had that happen once but when ink started to appear again my team was down two players. I assume the players disconnected and caused a slight hiccup.

Was wondering if it was something on my end cause it happened about 3 times. I do remember having less teamates so that could be it.

Rollers too broken.

This was the best experience i ever had with a shooter. Usually i suck at shooters but here i'm wrecking shit :D

This game went from a no buy to instant pre order.

This was my experience with Lost Planet. I dominated ppl in the online demo and for quite awhile after release. I was shocked because I suck at FPS games usually. But something about Lost Planet and being 3rd person clicked real fast.

This is starting to feel like it'll be the same way.

I really liked this demo!! But I don't think I would pay the $60 for the game, I'll wait untill it drops to $50 to buy it.

dat $10.

Hmmm not sure what to make of it, felt like I was fighting the controles half the time couldn't seem to get comfortable. Reminded me on the ship controles from the Metroid blast in Nintendo Land which I also hated.

you know you can turn off motion controls at the weapon select screen. press + for options.

My favorite thing was when I'd get killed from behind as I placed a Killer Wail, only to have the enemy continue walking forward and immediately explode in the beam. :P

Splattergun Jr. sees you with the roller and starts running backwards? Just splash them a few times and they're done. Stay salty, Juniors.

Rollers are pretty noob friendly, but I like that about them. Allows people to contribute meaningfully failry easily. But they're still easy to counter

I got to play all three hours, which was fun. I hope they schedule another demo weekend before launch.

My most lopsided victory was when the other team had three chargers and a 'shot while my team had two rollers and two 'shots. We won like 70 to 20, it was fairly brutal. This game should let teams decide weapon sets together before starting, like League of Legends lobbies when players are choosing characters, so stuff like that doesn't happen.

I had a lot of disconnects in this session, everyone else had the same problem?

However, my best match had 2 roller on the other team, and I sniping them with the normal pistol to avoid them color too much. Not bad!

Yeah, connecting to a game got rough in the last 15 minutes.

As someone who did well with the roller off the bat I could understand people getting killed with by the roller a lot early on, but when you're actually using a standard gun rollers pose little threat unless you let them walk right up to you. I can't believe people are whining about them being OP, what a joke.

I didn't think the roller was overpowered because you could kill people easily—I actually thought the guns were better for that—but it was just sooooo easy to cover terrain quickly, which is the ultimate point of the game.

(I say "overpowered" fully aware that neither I nor anyone else has played enough of this game. I actually expect to find that the weapons are more balanced, but as of right now, it seems overpowered)

Am I the only one to have gotten this a bunch of times:

Error code : 118-0513
"Failed to connect to partner's device.
Session might be full.
Please try again later
If the problem persists, your internet settings may need to be optimized for connecting to a partner."

All I had to do was to retry a few times until it found a proper session to join but still I'm worried if the game's gonna give me that at launch. So yeah, was it normal or was it related to MY internet?

Also, netcode for this game is GREAT imo.
I got it once or twice. I think it's normal.

I just don't understand how anyone can make any kind of determination, if you like the gameplay, that the game isn't worth the asking price.

We literally how no idea of the actual amount of total content at launch. We do know what is coming and what is time locked, but it is near impossible to make a value determination.

I say people wait 3 weeks for reviews and then say thing like "not worth $60"

That is of course completely dependent on liking the core game play

Agreed. We have zero idea at this point how much value single player is going to add.

I really like the Roller and Splattershot Jr. My team managed to get 80.3% paint one round. Some people are just really bad at the game, and having one of those people almost means a guaranteed loss.

I wish there were more than 2 maps in rotation every 4 hours. It does feel like it would get old.

Lag is really annoying. It wasn't often, but shooting and nothing being painted or people teleporting breaks the experience.

Yea, I had that error happen as well. It's something to do with how lobbies work in games. It happens in other Nintendo multiplayer games as well.

So, I played this now on all three hours and I still kinda suck on this game, lol. Am I the only one with this problem? It's my first shooter (for real), so maybe I just need some more practice, but the only weapon I am at least somewhat good with is the roller, but only as long as there is no enemy. I don't even hit something with the killer wail. Most of the time I forget about it. Ok, sometimes I can roll someone over, but more often than not the other peeps kill me first. I guess I will play this for a longer time in single player, before I go into the multiplayer again. I love this game, but it sucks to be so bad. :/

I thought the gyro controls would be hard to use and they were for a few minutes, but after that it's really easy to get used to. Though remembering that I can jump is funny.

That was fun!
Managed to get semi-consistently around 800-900 points and 6 kills when winning and 500+ when loosing.
I think my best game was 9 kills with the splatter. And something like 70% on another game.

There are several crates or walls you can cover with ink/climb up that are less easy to spot and cover than your regular floor, some pretty precious m² as enemy people will not necessary recover it behind you.

Anyone else got use to the gyro-aiming?
I forgot to turned it off at the beginning, the following round I turned it off and was kind of disoriented, maybe I should've lower the sensitivity. But I put the gyro back on and started to like it.

Nonetheless, fun times were had, I still don't know if I want to buy it....

same as my past two sessions, I only got 1 comm error in the entire hour. it was my first match right as the servers came up and were probably getting hammered. not bad at all.

I really love the roller and splattershot. probably better with the roller. i got a triple kill with the killer wail, and the paint fling catches a lot of other rollers/gunners offguard for an easy kill.

it's also nice to secure a win by taking the last 15-20 seconds to make a run through unguarded enemy territory and paint over all their ink

Wow this game is soooo good. Cannot wait for this. Spent the first 10 minutes just playing around in the tutorial just getting used to movement. I think the hardest thing is going to be getting used to pointing down at the ground. In every other game, we're trained to tilt upwards just slightly, so to have to play the reverse is really really weird at first.

And oh wow the controls, I can completely understand people's reactions to them, but getting used to them is worth it. That first quick turn 180 kill cements it. Just mastering the controls seems to be part of the job. By the last round I was getting better at evading and hopping around rollers.

I've seen people talk about not ever looking down at the screen and that meaning they should add a separate control scheme for the pro controller, and I just think that's a terrible idea. The gamepad isn't supposed to be an option, literally part of the meta of this game is constantly looking down at what map is controlled. I'm betting most people don't even look down once til they've died. The only time I lost was when I picked the charger and happened to end up on a team with all rollers. Every other team was constantly leap frogging from empty spot to the next. My last game I won because I noticed the other team had a whole section with no one there. I ran over with ten seconds and spammed my grenade perk, winning by a couple percent.

And that's the end of the demo right there. It's fun, but I'm not so sure if the game will be worth it at the price. Would buy if it was cheaper.

And yes, the roller is OP. I finished as MVP six or seven times in a row with it. So long as you stay focused and know the map, you can cover so much ground with it. But of course this is only the beta and a lot of people are unfamiliar with how the game works, so perhaps it's too early to be talking about what's OP and what's not.
This is the roller in gif form:

AD8Ov0r.gif

Roller is not op. Only time I ever died from it was when I was specifically putting myself in its way to try to do maneuvers around it, but not being used to the controls just usually resulted in me flailing. Other than that, rollers are like the janitors, great for clean up kills, and it's hilarious just shooting them in the head as the slowly walk towards you.

Can't wait to see the rest of this game, as right now I think I'm settled on the Splattershot, but I really want to give the charge shot another try, once I'ver got more muscle memory for this game.

I'll buy this on discount. Fun game, but since none of real life friends have a Wii U (nor want one), not to mention no local MP to play when they're over, this game is mostly useless for me. Might be worth giving the campaign a whirl when it's on the cheap.

Damn I wanna get good in sniping, but I'm so bad, lol. There were also games with the roller where I didn't meet any enemy for lengths of time. Feels good if you just can do your job without being disturbe.

find a high area, lower the aiming speed if necessary, and remember you're not there posting the ground.

Splattergun Jr. sees you with the roller and starts running backwards? Just splash them a few times and they're done. Stay salty, Juniors.

I also liked swimming around as they popped their shield and crushing them the second it wore off.

Just imagine it guys. We didn't have any customization/perk options and we only have four out of many different variations of guns to work with. I'm so excited for this game now. Definitely was on the fence before.

This happened to me repeatedly. I'd get error messages and check my Airport Extreme every time - nope, it's fine. Here's hoping they improve this significantly come launch day.
I just hope Nintendo got the data they wanted off this test. I mean it was fun to play the game, really fun, even, but the real reason for all of us to play is to catch stuff like this so it won't happen in the full game. Brute force bug hunting. It ain't pretty, but it works.

And yeah, my gun of choice was the Splattergun Jr. That shield is just awesome. I'd like to try the Kraken in the full game, but so far the Bubbler is my favorite Super.

Also, best move today: Roller coming at me on Saltspray Rig. to the right, the cean, too the left, a container pile. No room to dodge. So I shot the wall and dived into it, avoiding the roller, then shooting her in the back. That's how we do it on the ink side.

Again, a lot of fun this session. I was always 1000+ points. Too many people try to either only paint or kill people. You really have to balance things out. Killing enemies in their pain will give you a lot more points than killing them in the middle of yours.

I loved both guns, I also put the sensitivity all the way at the bottom!

Great game, but more woth 45$ not 60. I would glady take it for that price. But right now i am on the fence about it at that price point.

I don't understand this reasoning? Can you explain why it isn't worth the $60? If all the regions had the typical pricing then would it be $60? It is multiplayer that seems to going to be supported for quite some time. From what we've seen it is going to have a good single player component, and also most importantly people are having fun? I don't understand where everyone is coming up with this notion that the game is just not worth $60, especially when they add the caveat that they had a ton of fun with it.

I think a team of 4 rollers will almost always lose to a team of 3 rollers and a splatter gun player if skills are about equal. Without easy access to the higher ground you're going to struggle, definitely on the rig map. Just one good charger up on the boxes in the warehouse is going to cause you serious problems too.

I used that "tech" where you jump, shoot and turn into squid repeatedly to move fast and god damn it worked incredible. I used it to enter enemy territory and be hard to hit. It was awesome haha.

I was on the edge about buying this game. But after being in two of the hour gameplay testfires, I know I really want this game now.

Well not fan of the gyro control and I was halfway through compensating when I switched so I was always over compensating without the gyro aiming :/
Need more time to try to get used to the control.
It's not fun losing in this game.
Thank god for no voice chat though, I had a much much better time that way.
Could only play 1 of the 3 sessions though, onthe fence still for the game.

Just played for the final hour and I really enjoyed it! Earlier I didn't care much for the Charger but after finding some ways to get to higher ground I started liking it much more. It's still pretty situational and you're not going to be on the front lines or very mobile, but it cannot be beat at range. If you're on level ground with your opponent, you'd better make that first shot count though, or they will close in on you fairly quickly.

Something I didn't even think about (because it was never a problem) is that the connection was pretty smooth in each match. It looked like I had some players from Japan in a few of my games but I never noticed any lag, rubberbanding, or jumping around. Very nice!

The Splattershot Jr. is still my favorite weapon, though. Great rate of fire, nice coverage, and the shield is great especially when you stick with your teammates. I really wish there was some way to coordinate weapons before the match though. It's good to have some variety and having an all Roller/Charger team seems like a recipe for disaster.

There is local multiplayer...

Yep, a roller did that to me when I was playing a Jr. I was like, damn, I didn't know it splashed that far.
