Yaay got the game. I saw someone take the last game + squid bundle right before my eyes though :(. There were also no girl and boy inkling amiibos.
 
Well GAME has dispatched my order. I have no idea what I'm going to end up with.

How do you unlock the amiibo costumes and minigames? I've seen low level people with the costumes, but have they played through all the single player stuff before hopping online?
 
Any Aussie mates bought this game ? is the lag tolerable ? I tried to google it but nothing came up so I assume there is no Aus server for this game.

I've not noticed huge problems when playing against Japanese players from the UK. I'd hope that'd suggest that AUS will cope okay against anyone in the world.
 
Have the ranked matches opened now then? I seem to remember them saying on the Direct they wouldn't open until a certain amount of people reach higher levels.

Never played a game that puts you in a match so fast then when considering it is mostly Japanese makes it even more incredible along with lagfree matches.

The servers before release were so so good.

It's odd because i play now and have to wait for at least 1 or 2 people but when it was just japanese players it took a few seconds if not instantly ready.

did they change anything because that might explain my problem, it really was incredible earlier in the week though.
 
When you're on the other team, Dusk, I'm like "yeah, we're gonna get steamrolled" :P

Playing with JP players goes pretty well actually, aside from the occasional "kill roller, die by roller 7 seconds after his death" thing...
 
I can't connect to the lobby for my very first online match.

"Error code 104-0197 Could not connect to server"

I've seen no-one else report this so a problem on my end? I had no problems during the Test Fire...
 
Only got to play the tutorial this morning but I like it. What's everyone's preferred method of aiming? Thinking I might stick with the default motion controls for now. Can't wait to actually play after work!
 
I was iffy about the demo but that's was from mostly from having 1 hour with it and having stupid teammates, been watching it on twitch and it's looking good. I wanna grab this but I was thinking about taking a break from video games in June:( I don't know what to do.

im probably gonna get it later today, I'm a weak man:/
 
Un-fucking-believable. I get into a game and decide "this is gonna fuck out on me in a moment" so I just hold up on the stick while on GAF waiting for it to disconnect so I can try again. BUT NO it runs through fine for the whole match! Thinking "Wow! A connection that works!" I decide to stick with the match, continue ballting and actually pay attention. BUT NO this time it craps out with 20 seconds left.

Fuck you Splatoon., Piece of shit.

Most likely on their end as I'm getting a similar problem (though apparently my error code doesn't exist according to Nintendo http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wf...p?error_code=118-006&system=Wiiu&locale=en_US). Was perfect yesterday before launch.

Apparently, from people on reddit, only the Japanese servers were up before today and that is what press were playing on but today the rest of the worlds servers have gone up. So it's an issue with the global or NA or EU servers. Or it's an issue on our end where now that Splatoon is out our routers are conspiring against us to stop us playing but will let us play MK8 and other online Wii U titles with no problem.

Yeah, I thought the same way about you, to be honest. Times when we were on the same team, though? Complete annihilation. Didn't we win 80-20, once?

I preordered mine from Walmart the day they were available and thankfully it shipped. Walmart probably allocated all their stock to preorders since the surprisingly had them in stock for hours before I even placed my order.
 
That non-credit to team feeling when your K/D rate is 0:4 and you got 3rd place in painting :[

I think that was mostly a team of new players trying out the controls tho. Saw one idling, switching to squid and back :P I feel so bad when a match gets so lopsided tho... I want them to have fun too!

And yeah, love your space marine power armor. The helmet looks dumb imo, but without it it looks pretty neat!
 
Ugh, so jealous I have to work today. It's going to be a loooooooong day.

So what the overnight verdict on getting friends matches going? Did it end up taking awhile to get a full room? Is exiting (and switching weapons) a huge pain for it? I wanna jump in the GAF matches tonight!
 
Maybe this is already widely known but I thought I'd post it here anyway, the little flags representing your form on the online lobby screen don't seem to serve much purpose beyond telling you how well/badly you're doing, but if you get the number high enough, chat to Judd (sleeping on the bin in the Inkopolis hub) and he'll give you a small cash bonus. It seems to be roughly 100x whatever your score is, when my form was at +4, he gave me 400 coins (or whatever the currency's called) and when it was at +10, he gave me 1000. Just a wee heads up.

Anyway, excellent game and hugely addictive. I'm at level 11 after playing far too much yesterday, haven't developed any particular strategies yet other than to keep moving as much as possible. Still using the Splattershot Jr as the Bubble Shield is absolutely invaluable given I'm not really as good as I should be yet. The weapons seem well balanced, only the Kraken appears OP, though I haven't used it yet as I don't like the rollers. In shooters, I'm always the medium range guy/infantry, for whatever reason.

Yeah, maybe. I remember playing a match yesterday and I wanted to chuck one of my grenades, but I completely forgot what button it was. I was stumped and felt stupid for around three minutes

Yeah, haha. I'm tempted to switch the glasses for a hat, but I don't know which one to go for. Man, being a Fashion Inking leads to a rough life

A quick extra note:

When Judd's "Zzzz" text is orange, that means the bonus is up. When it's grey, it's not up yet.
 
Ugh. I have trouble stopping playing this and I have a lot of Witching to do on the side.
And there's a lot of sun outside.
I feel pressured.

Oh nice, thanks. I always miss those kinds of small details, always useful to know when so much in the hub seems to be dependent on 24 hour cycles.
 
I finally understand all the Mario Galaxy comparisons. Just finished the first boss. The structure is very "Nintendo".

Doesn't seem like they half-assed the single player, which makes me extremely happy.
 
I feel like my ability to do somewhat decently with the charger during the testfire was only because everyone else sucked. Now that people are better I have to put in soooo much more work with it compared to other weapons.
 
They are still preparing my order for dispatch and they will send it with Hermes, aka the worst parcel delivery company there is. There is little to no hope for Splatoon this weekend.

That's good news.

Jumping into online games for any game needs to be fast. I don't want to be sitting in a lobby for too long.

That killed it for me in Titanfall and I have noticed the waiting times for something like Halo are just to long these days. I want to jump in and play.
