Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

final second retake on saltspray

MFW the game goes into overtime.

Using the Inkbrush carelessly is just so fun. I was more concerned about placing my sprinkler properly lol. There's a Miiverse board on the left part (closer)/right part (further) of Walleye Warehouse (depending on where you spawn) that's up high enough that is reachable where if you place a Sprinkler properly, it would be impossible to destroy it without a grenade of some sort.

I've read that someone put a sprinkler on the middle beam above the middle part of the map, but I tried it with 2 bomb range up and it doesn't seem possible. Maybe 3 is what is needed, but I doubt it is possible. I don't have clothing with Bomb Range Up to try.

Walleye is so sprinkler friendly. Just don't place it in the middle. Place them high on walls at the sides. I even put a sprinkler on the beam near the enemy spawn lol. So fun to just place sprinklers in random places. The other team only had one person with a long range weapon to destroy it, so it was hilarious watching them try and destroy it.
Actually I think walls count in Turf War games as it goes. If you play a game and all of the floor is covered you'll notice that there's around 10% unaccounted for. I always paint the walls because if it's around 45/45 those walls can be the difference between winning and losing.
I highly doubt it, they've stressed time and time again that the walls don't count. You sure it isn't just small spaces that haven't been covered in ink?

When the round begins, I usually rush forward to the 50-60% mark of the map. However, many of the other players often stay back and cover the 0-20% mark of the map instead, which I find a bit stupid. To me, it is important to get as much forward "momentum" as quickly as possible in order to dominate the opposite team. I get that you fill up your Special meter by covering the beginning of the map, but even when I rush (with my Splattershot Jr.), I usually get my Special filled by the time I've reached the center of the map. Especially on maps where I can get a high vantage point and cover a lot of ground quickly.

No clue, but I know I've played one match that was two shades of blue against each other, which took me by surprise. Still pretty contrasting, but weird.

I think there's a different amount of set colors for both modes, however.

I've rarely played splat zones and that actually was where I encountered the color...

Don't recall which, but there is a hidden scroll that seems to show all of the combinations. Look for the one with a lot of circles.

I'm missing 2 scrolls, must be one of them.

Had a Charger on my team sit in one place for two minutes straight the entire game as ninja squid. He missed a point-blank snipe and returned to his hide-y place.

You can't just make this stuff up.

I absolutely adore Saltspray Rig just because of how many funky surfaces there are to start sprinkler shenanigans. You can really accrue points/meter en masse just aiming for weird structures on the bottom walkways before the southern most point.

I don't think bomb range up even works for sprinklers. They weren't listed in the guidebook's explanation of the ability.

I might make a thread about this on it's own, but I really think by gameplay merit alone, Splatoon has the potential to be a competitive game.

Obviously, the only thing holding it back is the lack of friend lobbies/any kind of organized play option.

However I think that given the way all the weapons are balanced, and there are no real balance issues that stick out like a sore thumb in the game. There's no "tripping"-like mechanic. The gameplay is fast, fun, and has a lot of room for players to be creative with it. Once friend lobbies get in, I really want to see what kind of strategies a coordinated team might do (as in actually picking weapons to complement each other, etc.).

Yesterday I had a level 16 Japanese player on my team who was still in all his starting equipment. He was mostly useless in every match, except of course the one time he wasn't on my team

There was no doubt in my mind that Splatoon had everything necessary to see a strong competitive meta develop. There's too many awesome emergent plays and strategies that develop naturally through the course of any given match even in the game's current form where most communication basically boils down to painting a path and hoping for the best from/for a random ally. Furthermore, a real sense of care has been given to how things interact with one another allowing for a free form game with lots of player control. It's really slick in how the elements come together and as a result I could definitely see a very strong competitive scene being built out of the title.

Don't you just love that law?

I just got 1426 using the Inkbrush. I was only able to get 300 when it came out, and I haven't touched it since. Don't know what happened that now I can use it.

It's like you don't choose the Inkbrush, the Inkbrush chooses you. :lol

So I finally got a chance to try out the inkbrush and I think it's love, GAF. It's super weak in direct combat naturally, but an awesome weapon for playing double duty on assassin and utility. Easy to rush ahead and get a foothold, and still strong enough to kill quickly if they're distracted.

Plus its fun to just swish it around and watch the inkstrikes roll in.

Going on a losing streak in ranked really makes you question if you were good, or if you were riding other players coat tails to get where you were, especially when you derank and still lose.

But when you get that one victory right afterwards you feel oh so much better.

I know the feeling. I managed to play ranked battles yesterday for the first time. Everything went well, very few losses. My Sunday night was full of excitement, especially when I narrowly escaped death.

Today, however...I had a bit of time, so I thought let's squeeze in a few matches, which resulted in a losing streak and, fortunately, a single victory at the end of my play session.

I like you with the dual squelcher, you move more than usual. That was my one worry was that you would just settle on the charger and post.

Such a fun weapon! I think I have managed to make it pretty deadly. Especially useful now that in general people seem to favor short-range weapons. Not sure what you mean by the last sentence.

You had a tendency to dwell in a small area, and depending on the map I knew where to find you. The dualie seems to give you more range and you branch out and chase down instead of upkeeping your roads to circle your area.

Ah I see. Yes I agree that I'm less mobile with the Charger.

I like your charger too, but I think you should branch out with it more. I remember outscoring you once with the charger, not because I did better but because I simply moved around the map more. If you were really aggressive with the charger I think you could be easily hitting 1300-1500, you've already got the movement down.
